Thanks, I shall have to examine that thread... Still not sure why you recommended dark souls though...
Also, are you named after squirrel girl?
Like most peeps, I'm lacking in the predictive prophecy dept., but I do well in assumptions.
I share what games I've played and like, hence [Echo] Dark Souls Souls Remastered [/echo]
Squirrel?
What's that? 🙀🐿🦄
Would you say you most enjoy team class-based shooters with large worlds, or at least some map variety, and large loot pools?
You could try Destiny 2 if you haven't yet, it wasn't my cup of tea but at least it's free to try (with most content locked behind paid DLC, though).
If you like Blizzard games youd probably like Dota2 since its a standalone sequel of what once was Warcraft 3 mod. Plus, the game is free.
Oof... I tried it once. The community around that game is both harsh and hardcore...
Well, if the worst comes to the worst and the modern publishers take their greed onwards, it might be time to hang all the modern stuff and look backwards.
As someone who plays on as many platforms as possible, I always say my "sweet spot" or golden age was the PS2 era. If you wanted to now, you could still pick up a clean, working PS2 dirt cheap (around $50 iirc) and the games are similarly available and cheap too on the whole.
You can obviouly go further from that , like PS3, Xbox 360 and so on, but that's just my opinion of the best place to start. Great bang for buck.
Those games are just so damn immersive, the combination of the silent protagonist and the suit. Stellar sound design and atmospheric elements and really great combat with a neat Limb Targeting system, cool af weapons, inventive physics-based gravity puzzles. If you liked DOOM and Portal, I think you would appreciate Dead Space.
It's very easy to imagine yourself in the game, trapped in that damn ship with those gangly looking freaks trying to eat your face.
Something immersive: Condemned - Criminal Origins
Something strategic: Gemcraft - Chasing Shadows
Something emotional: Life Is Strange 1
Something stress-relieving: Red Faction - Guerrilla
