Game suggestions for people that suck at games
I enjoy gaming...but I suck. Epically. There's an extremely small number of games I can actual play without cheats (My Time at Portia, Two Point Hospital, Jurassic Park Evolution, Planet Zoo career mode), but usually I only get games with cheat codes.

Sadly, with so few games having build in cheats (and I know NOTHING about trainers, but seems like there's a risk of getting a virus that way), it makes it hard to find games.

Games I really enjoy that I have to use cheats for: Starcraft 2, Starcraft, Might and Magic 5, Ark). I'd love to play a game like Biomutant - it looks really awesome - but I'd get slaughtered and that's just not fun.

I prefer games to be a chill experience in terms of my ability to play - I am not looking for some frustrating challenge of dying constantly - but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy a game with faster elements... Getting a game I can't beat isn't worth buying - I want to enjoy the story. Or I want a game like Ark I can just enjoy running around in, building in, having cool mounts, etc.

So...any suggestions for game titles to try out?

Thanks!

Are you planning to become game a journalists?

Pick up Portal and Portal 2. Or just 'the Orange Box' and Portal 2. You'll want to see how built-in tutorials that are actually GOOD work. Learn how to manipulate the environment and move through it effectively. Portal 1 in particular is very good for figuring out basic first person 'shooter' and 'thinking around the environment' aspects. Valve has always done an exceptional job at showing the player in very subtle ways how to find a goal, or what is important versus what can be ignored.

Obviously I don't know what kind of games you WANT to get into - biomutant is basically monster hunter with animal people, and monster hunter is a very very difficult game to get into if you're not already enjoying extended fights and hit point bag enemies.

A faintly-similar-to-Ark game would be No Man's Sky, which yes it had a rocky start but the game has continued to be updated, improved vastly, and is quite enjoyable for exploration, building, and the occasional fight, plus has a good background lore and story mode that takes ... well, 20 hours to work through the 'this is still a tutorial are you seeing that yet?' :)

What specific limitations do you find are making it hard for you? Controls? Play style? Combat? Pacing? Biomutant is nothing at all like most of the games you list otherwise, which seem to mostly be turn based or tactical things. Have you tried XCom and other such turn based style things in different genres?

Thank you, Zekiran for your response, I really appreciate it.

I have a hard time figuring out a "type" of game I like, but of course I am not asking anyone to figure that out for me. ;)

Big things are I can't do first person games because I get motion sick and...I suck at games. I actually really enjoy combat in games, I'm just terrible at it, hence needing a god mode to play. There's a lot of games I'd love to try, but as they never have cheat codes anymore, it's a waste of money for me to just always reach a point where I can't progress any further, always happens for me with combat-based games.

The games I listed are games I have because either I can beat without cheats, or they have cheats.

Looking for other games that have cheats or are the type most people can likely get through (I can't imagine My Time at Portia being a game most people can't successfully play for example - waiting, very eagerly, for the next game, but it's not out yet).

Can't explain why I suck, I don't know, I just suck. :D

this is a pure story driven game. no enemies, nothing frustrating, and it was a great game.

Can't go wrong with something I can test for free. :D

LIS is a great game.
"Tell Me Why" is currently free so you may as well grab that.
It's a Visual Novel too.
If you suffer from Motion Sickness then the Portal series is a no-go, along with many other games.
My condolences :winter2019saddog:
Edit: Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle is basically free. It's a puzzle game with no timed events. Just your brain may hurt after a while.

Yeah, totally blows I can't play first person - kills so many options.

Thank you very much for the other suggestions! I'll check out the free one for sure - never hurts to do that!

I get motion sick too, trust me: motion blur and head bob are two things I *INSTANTLY* turn off - or if possible, I find a mod to turn off for me, on any game that has them. (Why I cannot play more than half an hour at a time of Alien: Isolation... because baked-in head bob and no way to turn it off... ) but there are ways to fix that, such as altering the Field of View, depth of field, and other visual properties of the games.

Sometimes, if you want to play a game, you gotta just ... dig down and push past it, which can be very tough but also rewarding. Training yourself out of visual habits that lead to discomfort is possible! Don't give up :)

Check out "Slime Rancher" on Steam and/or "Bugsnax" in the Epic store.

please note that there are games that want to kill you and it is normal that you die 20 times in the tutorial levels. that is something you can learn to accept.

super meat boy - sidescroller
ghostrunner - fps

for a more relaxed gaming experience ... telltale-style point and click (or "interactive movie") are normally games for nearly everyone. life is strange or the walking dead series or currently free, tell me why. telltale is defunct and some games are no longer purchasable here but there are more of them that are recommendable.

Story-based games might be good for you, such as Life is Strange (recommended already), Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments, The Wolf Among Us and Heavy Rain.

I also recommend survival / exploration games that allow you to play at your speed and skill set, such as by providing different difficulty levels. For this, I recommend:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/305620/The_Long_Dark/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/264710/Subnautica/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/275850/No_Mans_Sky/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/815370/Green_Hell/

All four games above can be challenging but they all provide difficulty options or custom settings so that you can create the game to match your playstyle.

Final recommendations would be for simulation games such as Prison Architect, Mequaquarium and Two Point Hospital. They have sandbox levels where you can give yourself infinite money etc.

Good luck finding what you like.

Nier Automata
I am serious. This game has an easy difficulty, from which you can transit into a very easy difficulty where the game dodges attacks for you, attacks for you, generally does all the stuff you can possibly suck at for you, leaving you free to enjoy the world & story. Still, you can attack, dodge and do all the other stuff if you want, it's just that you don't have to.

Mods can make the game more interesting

Voxel Tycoon:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/732050/Voxel_Tycoon/
Mods make the game WAY more interesting, only as difficult as you want it to be, and the "Game Control" mod allows you to speed up time (which I only use it for) or to give money, unlock all research etc if you just want to build for the sake of building. There's also an "Unlimited Resources" mod if you don't want resource spots running out of material, if again you just want to build a functional network mostly for fun.

Planet Coaster:

Parkitect:

The Riftbreaker (Try the demo its fun):

Command & Conquer - Remastered (If you dont mind buying EA Games):
