What is Steam Policy if any for Early Access Game?
That has not been updated for a long time ie; over a year but yet still "collecting cash" by selling the unfinished game at the store? :sg3_question:

Not necessarily the unfinished game but rather "the game in its current state". Doesn't "early access" ring enough bells for you?

The same for all games in early access.

Read the blue box on the store page.

You are under no obligation to buy an Early Access game.

On each store page it is clearly labelled what an Early Access game is.

"Get instant access and start playing; get involved with this game as it develops. NOTE: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development".

In other words: It can be a success like, Darkest Dungeon, Slay the Spire, Dead Cells, Hades, etc or remain in limbo.

Do you then accept those terms and purchase?

People need to learn how to read. I did not say the POLICY for EA Games. I said what is Steam Policy for EA games that keep collecting with out any update for a long period of time..Where the Honesty here?

Steam sells these games as is. There is no guarantee that there will be further updates. The customer is warned before purchase of this. I've bought a ton that ended up being successful and a few that didn't. I understood the risk I was taking for each purchase because I am an educated consumer.

Again what is Steam Policy for a EA Game that keeps collecting cash for a long period of time with out any updates or communication..

Again the same as a just released EA game. The game is sold as is with the understanding it might never get another update. Hence why they tell you that on the store page.

The entire point is you shouldn't be buying it unless you are happy with it in its CURRENT state. SO it doesn't matter if its gone without updates for a long time or not.

Steam sells games on behalf of developers

Again the policy is very clear on the store page. Do you purchase an Early Access game, knowing the risks involved which are clearly written.

Finally Valve cannot force developers to complete games and you are not forced to purchase any Early Access games.

Try looking up Epic's Early Access policy, it does not exist.

For developers:
https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/earlyaccess

In the blue box, on the store page, is a link to the FAQ for EAGs:
https://store.steampowered.com/earlyaccessfaq/?snr=1_5_9_

Along with this part of the blue box:
Early Access Game
Get instant access and start playing; get involved with this game as it develops.

Note: This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development.

Those are all of Valve's official stances and policy on EAGs.

If one is not willing to accept the risk, then they shouldn't be buying EAGs.

I know I have stopped buying them as I have been burned a few times, but I understood the risk involved so am not angry/upset about it. I know what I was getting into at the time. Other are free to do as they wish, but I will wait for the game(s) to be finished before purchasing.

Again the same as a just released EA game. The game is sold as is with the understanding it might never get another update. Hence why they tell you that on the store page.

No its not. There a Policy for EA Games then there STEAM policy for EA Games..There are Devs who is abusing the early access program and fraudulently representing gameplay.Even though Developers using early access have the right to promote and set the pricing for their games, Does Steam require honesty from developers in the marketing of their games and or have a Policy in place for EA Developers??

Read what people are telling you. THE POLICY is right there. Your feelings on the policy have no bearing on it.

The only policy for EA games is Steam's policy. Part of the nature of EA games means that some of them will never finish and be abandoned. Hence why you buy it as is and assume the risk when you buy it.

That doesn't mean dev's were in any way dishonest, its just life and studios go out of business, companies shut down.

Even if a game is abandoned and there are no plans to update it anymore it can still be sold. That is what 99% of steam games are sold as where they receive no future updates.

If you feel that way, why don't you report the game in question to Valve from it's store page?
