NEVER buy a game at full price!
Today I learned that you should never buy a game at full price on steam. Just a couple days ago I bought Civ 6 full price and today it's 75% off which gives me 100% regret for my steam purchase.

Just refund it and rebuy it at the sale price. State that in your refund request. The refund generally happens faster if you get it to your wallet.

I can imagine that people buying a game at full price do so because they want to play it "now"... so he might have gone past the 2 hour limit.

Whenever you consider purchasing a game, always check Steamdb.info for the price history. It gives you an indication of what discounts you can expect and often around what time they're on sale.

Or isthereanydeal, if you're not trying to get rid of some Steam wallet credit that you have.

Then OP simply needs to put in a manual refund request:

Go to Steam Support here:

https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithPurchase

Click the game
Click 'I want a refund'
Send an email to Steam Support

Explain that you're refunding it to rebuy it cause it went on sale.

The refund policy states that refunding a game to rebuy it cause it is on-sale is not an abuse of the refund policy.

It was free on Epic Games last year.

I suggest checking:
https://isthereanydeal.com/

in the future, to see how much a game has been on sale in the past.

Sorry but I think it's a dumb argument. Does the game suddenly lose its appeal once you learned that you can get it cheaper somewhere else? I beg to differ.

Sure, I agree that it sucks to find out that you could have saved some cash, no arguments there, but this stuff is simply bound to happen sooner or later. That new fridge or washing maschine or dishwasher for your new house? Give it a couple of weeks and you're bound to find it for 100 bucks or more cheaper. But does that suddenly make the device useless? Of course not.

I've bought plenty of Steam games at full price knowing fully well that there would come a discount period someday. Sure, but in the mean time I got to enjoy my game or DLC from then and there; didn't have to wait for something that might have happened or not.

As always these things go both ways.

One might even deliberately pay a higher price if they’ve strong desire to support a particular studio. :moneysack:

I buy EA games that are only partly done sometimes because I want to support the developers, even for games that I don't like the game play of, I still want to support the devs for really trying. I buy the EA games when they are not on sale, on purpose.

Sure, I would agree storefronts are a parallel case.

You win some you lose some. That is the game of steam purchases. If you missed the deal then you missed it. If everyone who just bought wanted the deal they just missed and got it then they would have to raise the price even higher to make up for it.
My approach... if its a good game and its worth the price they're asking then they deserve every dollar. Having credit card chargebacks just complicates the banking and has other potential side effects.

Not just "potential". As far as I know, a whole lot of things happen on Steam when they get a chargeback, and none of these effects are anything you're going to like, or at least not care about.

To my knowledge, they will lock the account until the payment is made, and they will blacklist the credit card used on Stean. This is NO way to force a "refund" outside of the normal refund rules...
