Yeah, was kinda afraid of that. And also never really had any issues with Ubisoft Connect in the past, it is just today that Assasin's Creed Syndicate won't load at all. Keep getting the message 'it can not connect to the service' , even when using fake credentials I do not even get the message, it is not in the system. Or a message with my official credentials that the pwd might be wrong. So it might just be the frustration of the day I find a bit difficult to swallow. I will see how it is tommorrow then.
In the end it is just the DRM / always-online-model all the companies for PC games are using nowadays, so can't really go around that anymore ;-) .
(edit) Many of these are even available online!
Most of the new games on recent 21' consoles can be played offline, although there are a few games that are singleplayer and do require an online connect :D
Personally, I like the Original Xbox, 360, Gamecube, PS1 and PS2
I get the DRM complaint, especially with the Origin client, I bought several Origin games on Steam and when I attempt to launch these games through Steam, sometimes it'll play or the Origin client will error as "This game is not in your library, please purchase it"
So, I'll try to launch it through the Origin client and I get the, "Use the Steam client to play these Steam games" loop.
Actually, it's like the Star Trek quantum temporal causality loop, the one where the Enterprise keeps blowing up and respawns. DRM is one of Dante's hells.
Nope, the thing with PC is that they are not. Most of the data carier games I have on CD / DVD that are from 2010 or up, do all require to log on to a DRM.
I think you answered your own question here. If the games themselves require you to be online then what makes you think that a specific platform would make a difference? It won't. For example... R* games require you to register with them through their social club and it doesn't matter if you're on console or PC and when on PC it doesn't matter if you're on Steam or Epic: you'll need a SC account, period.
As such... your only option here would be to buy other games directly from stores. The platform itself won't matter.
