Pattern of scam:
Bait, story, steps
It's a scam. Report them ON DISCORD, and report any other accounts they point you toward, as those will also be the scammer.
The sad fact is that only a tiny fraction of a tiny fraction use these forums compared to the millions of accounts that are live. By nature the people who get scammed may be inexperienced and/or ones that don't read much anyway, so you're never going to find them. Basically, your posting here is a bit like selling coals to Newcastle.
But, no, I'm not strawmanning you, considering that: You did say "you're never going to find them", and then followed it up with an analogy underscoring the uselessness. Oh, also, "it serves very little purpose".
I think we both fundamentally agree that the effect of such threads is small, so I'm not sure what you're so worked up about. It's like your point is "It has very little effect", and then I come along and say "well, it still has some", and you misrepresent my point to claim that I'm misrepresenting yours. This is just, sorta surreal.
There are other variants but this is the gist of it.
And lo and behold, here comes an authority figure! Well, a fake one.
