Chromium infecting Steam!?!
Ok, so after a mishap trying to download a Andriod emulator. I accedently installed Chromium on to my computer. For some reason, I couldn't uninstall it! I looked it up and learned that is was actually a Virus that multiplys itself, making it impossible to get rid off. After looking up videos on YouTube, I managed to purge it from my Computer.

However, it seems this isn't the last I'm ever gonna see of it. I've been noticing it poping up in updates and games I've downloaded off Steam. I've managed to delete the files before they have a chance to install the virus back on to my computer.

I don't know what the hell's going on here. Is this happening to any of you? Or is it just my piece of ♥♥♥♥ computer? Cause if I'm not the only one suffering from this problem, then Steam, you guys need to get your ♥♥♥♥ together and purge this thing! Cause I'm tired of having to triple check my computer everytime I download a game from here just to make sure this ♥♥♥♥ doesn't sneak back on to my computer!

Chromium is now being used to power Microsoft Edge.

The rest of you are mean and ignorant.
OP might have indeed had a virus that masqueraded as chromium, but then went on a witchhunt. Rational comments didn't work, so being mean or harsh is a legitimate way to get someone to take stock and rethink their position on the issue and consider they might be wrong.

Why would I need to check the dates? Is there a time limit on useful information?
The information that it might have been a virus masquerading as chromium was mentioned 3 times in 2018 posts, so you're not adding anything new or useful. OP was already using AV tools, so linking to one doesn't provide much benefit either.

The problem we have with this thread, and you resurrecting it, is that it sets of false alarms for people who start looking and ofcourse finding chromium on their PC, when it's perfectly fine.

"Actually, Chromium is a legitimate open-source browser project that forms the basis for Google Chrome browser, but malware writers are using this name and using Chromium to push malicious code on to Windows computers."

Ok, like I said, I literally got here searching for what virusus masquerade as Chromium. It's not inaccurate, maybe if everyone tried google and read more than the first sentence.

You're ignorant and toxic. What a terrible community.
ok, you know what is terrible?
fearmongering.

the same reason this thread exists. uneducated irrational reaction to uneducated fearmongering in video form.

there is a virus called anna kournikova
there is a virus called iloveyou
there is a virus called pikachu

so i advise you to never catch tennis, play sex or have pokemons. :lunar2019deadpanpig:
