Should be obvious enough that this makes Windows 10 more suitable by definition.
As for games, Windows 10 is actually quite good when it comes to compatibility. I see zero reason to keep using Windows 7.
yeah makes sense. thanks guys!
Would you explain why ?
How about newer games not working on Win7 due not being able to support DX12?
Horizon Zero dawn that is coming out might not work for Win7 due to this. So much for that Win7 superiority that people brags about.
Win10 is better for gaming because it supports more things.
It's not bad for gaming. It's just that it's old too:
Windows 8.1
January 9, 2018 (end of mainstream support)
January 10, 2023 (end of extended support)
Windows 10 offers a pretty similar user experience to Windows 7, and most things that run on Windows 7 run on Windows 10 just as well. And Windows 10 is current. Unless you have specific reasons why you can't use Windows 10, you should probably use Windows 10.
It supports Direct X 12. Afaik. Why would it not support Direct X 12?
Of course, they want you to have the new thing, eventually, for support and updates and stuff, and new technologies, but from what I've seen, many software that requires Windows 10 at minimum, also works on older versions. It's just not officially supported, but it may still function regardless.
And you may still get manual updates for it as well. It's not abandoned yet. There is like 5%, that still use it on Steam. Something like that?
There are still people offering support for it. Just not fully automatic. You may have to look around a bit.
Yes. I suppose the new OS is better, in that respect. In a sense that, everything happens automatically, and you don't have to fix things yourself. But there is nothing particulary wrong with the old horse either, afaik. People still use it, because they want to.
Why is it better for recreation? I don't know. For the sake of recreating, I suppose? If you can believe that?
At the very least it doesn't quite seem like they just added a feature in, but have made some exceptions to allow it. So DX12 only games may or may not run on Windows 7, depending. MS is walking a line there.
➡ Windows ME 32-bit
➡ & Wndows Vista x86
Windows 7 is Vista Service Pack 3 or 4. It just got to a point where Microsoft renamed it to Windows 7 to start on a new line because of the massive amount of negative comments on Vista.
Back in the day you could actually see this by looking at the patch numbers.
Vista wasn't bad, it was just a bit demanding but any decent CPU at the time shouldn't have had that much issues with it.
I'd say that's subjective. I have games on CD, made in the 90s, that run better on a Win98 machine; when compared to a Win10 machine. With Win10 I can eventually get my old games running, but I use Win10 only because Microsoft stopped supporting Win7. I can run most games on Win7 because of old display drivers no longer supported on Win10. I need a Glide Wrapper just to run Diablo 2 without pitch black gamma. Win10 is terrible for classic PC gaming.
