What happens when you use the Steam client to verify the gamefiles? So.. open the game properties, check the local files tab and then verify the local files.
I've only played the Steam versions and I haven't encountered any game launching errors, except for mod managers that default to Origin installed games only and not to my Steam installed games.
I would suggest uninstalling Origin through the OS uninstall option and rename the the Origin game install folders by adding an extra character to fool the Origin client to think the games are not installed.
Restart the OS, run the Steam client, do a "verify game integrity check," let it install the Origin client and afterwards, see if the game starts.

I've listed some links to Steam game discussions hubs, so you can ask other players if they encountered this problem and found a fix.

Can you please provide me an example of what you mean by the below? Where, or what, are the Origin Game install Folders?

A couple Google search results:
"All your downloaded Origin games can be found in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games folder - unless you changed this yourself."

I don't know if the above is true as I've only run the Steam versions of Mass Effect
And we could expend posts ad infinitum on how to use Windows regedit, I would suggest using a free software utility, CCleaner, just make sure to take the "registry back-up" option and "create a Windows Restore Point" (Google on how-to) then restart your PC after "Fixing all selected issues" in CCleaner and proceed to the next step of the Steam game and its Origin client re-installation.
Download CCleaner and decline/uncheck all "optional" software during install.
Stick to the "Registry" part of the program and "Scan For Issues"
