Your message will appear eventually.
And it says when you post something exactly why it checks it, it has to verify that it doesn't contain any harmful things, it doesn't know what you typed before it checks it, and hides it by default just to be safe.
Don't use guesswork as an answer, if you don't know; you don't know.
Their comments seem to appear a lot faster than others. But maybe they aren't. Hmm.
What are you talking about where you don't see it?
It does let you see your own comments and posts while they're being checked though.

It is everyone. All posts get checked. Not all go through as quickly though and some get stuck.
If you make a post and it has not shown with in 10 minutes, let us know and we will pass it on so it can get fixed.
The next time someone disagrees with me on these forums, I'll let you know so you can "fix" them.

Valve has retired all Volunteer Moderators and replaced them with paid Moderators, you'd think now that they get paid its being done better, or atleast more actively, but its gotten worse, atleast the Volunteers cared about the Community, the paid Mods only see it as a Job, and not a particular important one at that.
