Stealing and Uploading Artwork Consequences?
Hello Steam Community!

Recently it has been brought to my attention that people are uploading artwork, that isn't theirs, to their profile. This most likely happens a lot, and probably can't be controlled.

Althought this is true, the reason I've decided to make a complaint here is because I've noticed a certain user that has uploaded 500+ pieces of art that isn't rightfully their's. This saddens me because he has a ton of people noticing "his" artwork and complimenting him for it, even though it isn't his. He takes all the credit and continues to steal and rip from other artists. I'm just wondering if there is a way to stop him from doing this...constructive feedback would be appreciated.

the report button is there for a reason. maybe get into contact with the real creator(s) of the artwork and let them know that they could file a DMCA claim on it.

You should contact the real artists and send them the link to the art and this link: https://steamcommunity.com/dmca/create/ then they can get it taken down.

I have reported the user, but I'm still wondering if there is a way to get in contact with a community mod so they can see the extent that this guy has gone.

I'll do my best to contact the original artists, thank you both^^
Yeah using google reverse image search helps a lot with that. Generally you'll find people who swipe excellent art from deviantart, tumblr, and other such sites. I've seen plenty of them, but rarely any of them taken down.

I report them and request directly to the person who's posted them that they credit or link back at least, but that hasn't happened. I usually post over on DA when I find my friends art. It's annoying.

People need to remember that they cannot take credit for other people's works - it's just *theft*. Outright. Those who view collections need to know who made that artwork.
hmm what of the ppl who play pirated steam games?
They're not the issue here, are they.

I agree wholeheartedly^
The issue I'm having now is getting in contact with the original artists. It appears the user has been removing any signature the artist leaves, so I'll have to use reverse image search.

Another problem is the amount of art this guy has...I'm not kidding when I say he has 500+ artwork that he has stolen from artists across the web.

It's really just on a grand scale, that is why I'm still looking for potential support of a community admin or something...I just don't know how to get in contact.
artwork = Valve.
copyright issues = Valve.
no "elevated user" can do something about it, and Valve will not do anything about it without a DMCA claim. they dont know and also you dont know if they didn't receive permission.

are social justice warriors not cool anymore?
do we now have social copyright warriors?
