Can you make some money on steam?
I know you can get items from certian games and sell them on the market, as well as trading cards. Is there anything else, just wondering.

Wallet funds, but not money. One cannot cash out market transactions.

Even if your satisfied with store credit or convoluted and risky trading of valuable items to get money. It's not a terribly efficient way to make money. It's not impossible, but I have to believe that if you need to ask the question you're quite a way away from having the experience or temperament to make a serious go at it.

You certainly can make money on Steam!

And it's easy, too!

All you need to do is convince Valve Corporation to hire you for their board of directors.

I make $10-25 worth of steam credit in a year with minimal trading of in game items and trading cards. You can absolutely score some free games by smartly playing the market. Of course you cannot legally convert it to cash and using those sites WILL eventually get you robbed.

You can easily make money on Steam items if you know how trading and pricing works for items (buy low and sell high) you'd be surprised on people sell some nice stuff super low because they don't know the price the community will pay for them but no you are not allowed to cash out money from Steam but it happens and will always happen when trading is a thing being on a platform like Steam or in-games.

If you want to make money on Steam, learn to create games and sell a good game.
:Teddy_talk: Reboot, my first thoughts exactly.
Design, build and sell your game on Steam, become another sand in the Steams daily indie game shovelware.

The Steam Market is like Hotel California for money, "♫ ...you can check in anytime you want but you can't ever leave.. ♬"

...and Steam credit merely transfers from one Steam user to another user - if spent continually, Steam credit can circulate forever in this closed system with a one way trap door for more converted Steam credit from more outside Hotel California real money ♪

I know how to make games, but I believe it's nearly impossible to have it approved and published here, if you create games alone.

Well, more like “forever,” considering Valve’s rake, not?

If the same funds ran around the system indefinitely without a fresh infusion, wouldn’t they eventually dwindle?

Unless your trying to use Steam credit to cash out $100 USD, then yes, it would be impossible :D

I might've said your comment had merit when Greenlight was still around, but its different with Steam Direct

:teddy_talk: I was speaking only of the Steam Market as the only closed system, I wasn't including buying games and other transaction sundries, but just the Steam market, since Steam credit is like money, both are merely transferred to one user to another user and another user and so on. Money gets worn out but Steam credit is digital, ageless :-)

I'm sure you'll have holdouts who would want to hoard their Steam credit but Steam Wallet funds top at $2k USD, but with continual fresh infusion of converted Steam credit and people continually buying and selling with Steam credit, this hypothetical closed system should chug along nicely if only people were only immortal and this system remained forever unchanged :D

Oh. Gabe, you young handsome devil, you!
