The build in Windows Defender is nowadays on par with the best pay programs.
You can read a ton of reviews about it.
Use Windows Defender + your brain and you are good.
Had no virus or malicious software in many many years.
The best anti virus does not help you if you act stupid on the net.
For normal use the Windows Defender is more then adequate.
It never plays nice with Steam either.
So your best bet is to absolutely ditch it, and download another free antivirus, as they'll happily just be installed and do their own thing without needing a degree to setup.
You would have a better time punching yourself in the face everyday than trying to use Steam with Norton on your system.
It's Norton Safe Web, a browser extention. It blocks you from viewing "dangerous" websites.
Norton itself could be considered a virus. Most people consider it to be either rubbish or just straight up bloatware. And how it protects itself from uninstallation seems more like Malware.
