So, uh, Norton is calling Steam's OpenID login page malicious.
As a result, I can't authorize a subscription payment to an MMORPG I play.

Valve, get ahold of Symantec and sort this out.

Norton is garbage, uninstall it.

a norton blocking it. firstly not valve issue secondly its a norton problem. Thirdly why do you use norton? the reason i'm asking is that my past experience with norton was pretty much crap. slows down computer when it is running in background and not scanning anything. and dont pick up any viruses and if it does then it cant remove it or quaritine it and i have tried various other free anti virus software over the years, including then, and each one worked/works better then Norton in my experience

Norton was decent back in the 90s, but these days you'll get false positive reports for games clients, the games you download, or etc for Norton from time to time, much more than other Anti virus. Google Norton False positive for games, and watch how many results you see pop up, and you know why.

I can pretty much attest to everything shared above.. Norton is about the worst to get when it comes to decent computer & Internet security, it's all about the money for them now and most of their stuff doesn't work properly.

You dont need ANY paid or free anti virus software.
The build in Windows Defender is nowadays on par with the best pay programs.
You can read a ton of reviews about it.

Use Windows Defender + your brain and you are good.
Had no virus or malicious software in many many years.

on par yes, but i think it comes down to what you doing, visiting dodgy, downloading dodgy stuff, pretty much anything dodgy online, get a anti virus other then windows defender. Worked for IT shop what did repairs and the amount of people who thought like you brought their computers in, which was riddled with viruses, and the kind of stuff on the pc was the type of stuff where we got the police involved, if you know what i mean

The best anti virus does not help you if you act stupid on the net.
For normal use the Windows Defender is more then adequate.

and thats why i agreed with you and said its on par. you get stupid people who does stupid things. but still like any anti virus software you still need to let it do a virus scan, not many does that

Norton is notoriously awful, and has been for years and years UNLESS it is set up properly. And thats often a pain in the arse to do.

It never plays nice with Steam either.

So your best bet is to absolutely ditch it, and download another free antivirus, as they'll happily just be installed and do their own thing without needing a degree to setup.

You would have a better time punching yourself in the face everyday than trying to use Steam with Norton on your system.

Uninstall Norton or whitelist the login page. WTF is Norton doing on the page anyway? It's none of an AV's business! Uninstall Norton.

It's Norton Safe Web, a browser extention. It blocks you from viewing "dangerous" websites.

You see how well it works. Disable it and use your browser's built-in measures. Those are way more competent. And always keep your browser up to date.

Norton itself could be considered a virus. Most people consider it to be either rubbish or just straight up bloatware. And how it protects itself from uninstallation seems more like Malware.

and sometimes it even picks up other anti virus software as viruses (talking about experience)
