why should it? it is a video container.

MP4 is a video container, why would a music player support it? But on that note, iTunes does. And WinAmp. If 90% of your music is in .mp4, there's something severely wrong with your music.

Convert it to another format, genius.

MP4 is, as all others in this thread pointed out, too, a pure videocontainer. And in no way a valid music format.

So you have to move your ass or your fingers in that case, because it is a pure pebkac problem.

Hell, there are even addons for Firefox, who do that for you. Are you new to the Internet?

God, sometimes I think a PC licence should be essential, before even being allowed to touch such a thing..

Spent less time on youtube, and more time on reading documentations and specifikations. So you won't get dumber and dumber by the hour.

Ok, enough of being mean.

Here is the dumbed down version of the mediacoder, the audiocoder, that is able to convert your mp4 to mp3 or aac format:

http://www.mediacoderhq.com/audio/

And at least try to understand the difference between the formats.

The mediacoder itself is the swiss knife in converting one format to another, video and audio alike:

http://www.mediacoderhq.com/

but it's more complicated in it's usage, than the audiocoder, with the clear goal of converting and extracting audio from other formats into a music format.

mkess pls crawl back under that rock you came from.

mp4 containers can contain audio only and should then be named .m4a.

iTunes uses aac audio in mp4 container because aac does not support tags. its pure audio stream. Every other application and hardware that is not 20 years ago does support aac-audio but steam doesn't.

Haha, this is a joke right? I mean no one could get so pissed over someone asking a simple question, right? Anyways trying to convert 130+ songs from mp4 to mp3 would take too long.
Anyways, unless those can convert in bulk i wont be using them. Thanks anyways!

A). AAC does support tags.
B) No one uses AAC, so acting like "Hurr durr Steam is old" because it doesn't support an antiquated media format is ridiculous.

So you steal your music from YouTube. Literally the most inefficient way to do it but ok.

Use MP3 and get over it, or use a different media player than Steam. There are 650,000 available.

How is it ineffcient? Literally all i do is download the video. it takes me maybe 2 seconds.

Or you could download thousands of songs in seconds by just downloading the actual audio files.

Or you could not post on year old post.
