How to get Year of the Rat emojis and content?
I missed out on the Year of the Rat content because I wasn't even aware it was going on. I really like the emojis and stickers. Is there any way I can buy them or get them somehow? I'd really appreciate it.

They're stuck on our accounts forever! We can't sell or trade them.

If you are very lucky, they might revisit it in 2032.

Whenever I had steam up, I don't recall ever seeing anything about this event going on. I had a buddy who was like "There was an event going on?" when I told them about it. If they're going to do this stuff, I wish they'd make it more apparent anything is going on. No fancy decorations, ads, or anything else. I don't even know what others saw that I didn't in order to know this was going on.

I usually wouldn't even touch something like "News" on steam (didn't know that was a thing until you mentioned it) because I come on to play and don't care about random things that are going on.

Then logically you also shouldn't be concerned about the offered items, right?

Random news about other games doesn't interest me, such as an update for a game I never plan to buy. Usually steam pops ads up for stuff that's going on like sales. I think I saw something during the Christmas event.

Content like emojis are still used even when in or out of games when chatting with friends, so it's neat. The base emojis and stuff steam comes with is almost nonexistent. It's kind of a head scratcher that a social tool doesn't even have simple things like that. But that's beside the point.

Steam has a lot of the same sales around the same time each year, plus an occasional extra. Maybe research past sales and take note. I bet part of the strategy is they want you to be engaged--i.e. checking the store very regularly to see what's new.

Maybe. It'd be nice to have a tab or some doodad that specifically shows something important going on with steam specifically(such as holiday events) at the time. Like up by the notifications tab there is a holiday icon or something that's a little pronounced. It's a shame you can't add in your own stickers and stuff for messaging, but I know people could clone the time event stuff and make them irrelevant.

It's kind of dumb but you can use a lot of normal emojis if you use the phone app. The phone app will have it but the desktop client doesn't. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

But yeah, something to shine more and show a holiday or some other event is going on would be ideal. I think during the Christmas one there was all sorts of stuff going on around the client that made it hard to miss. Steam also advertised a lot to do the interactive stuff to earn things.

They have. The front store page changes completely and the news tab (that blue icon with a megaphone icon) has it listed. There is also the news pop-up when Steam gets booted.
