Can't upload Icon to Steam Group Chat

When I tried to upload an image to the Steam Group Chat icon, I get the following error "A server error ocurred".

Any ideas how to fix it? Or what are the sizes and format the image should have?

oh yeah, forgot about that.
for non-group group chats (aka the groupchat thingys you create with friends) the avatar upload does not work.

will be fixed some time in the future.

Any news on this? It's still not working.
I remember it was working back when the feature was first launched.
I still have groupchats not linked to community groups that have an icon I assigned back then.

For me it got fixed with time. Now it's working fine.

For me it got fixed with time. Now it's working fine.

What icon did you use? Maybe there are some restriction that we don't know

I've been patiently waiting for you to fix this for 2 years steam. I've tried every other method i can think of. I've even enlisted other people to try and change the group icon. No Cigar. Steam really needs to fix this ♥♥♥♥ cause it actively hampers the growth of more new channels, and locks existing communities into older steam chats that are progressively shrinking, rather than being able to rebrand or refresh themselves.

The dimensions have to be 184x184 and the size has to be under something like 2MB. For me it worked immediately when I changed the image to be exactly the right dimensions of 184x184 pixels and reduced the resolution to 200 dpi, which only has a size of about 100,000 bytes. For some reason, Steam doesn't recognize it otherwise. I hope this helps!
