By 'since now it was supporting gambling sites' you mean 'since Valve could now prove it was being used for money laundering by organised crime'?
Yeah, all those sites are unlicensed, illegal and used for very dodgy purposes - ALL OF THEM. I don't see a 'we don't care' position here at all. Unfortunately, I do see a prioritising of resources when it comes to enforcing the terms and conditions - a situation that leaves apps like Lootbear in an inbox somewhere labelled 'They'll get theirs'.
And they will. Unfortunately, this situation is like cutting heads off a hydra - kill one and two more will come to life in its place. Doesn't mean it's not worth doing of course.
Case in point:
Shortly after the the CSGO Lotto scandal around TmarTn and ProSyndicate Valve send some C&D letters to well known gambling sites.
Now there are more than ever and a new one being registered each and every day and people actively seek them out.
I think there are more counter voices to that.
Gambling.. scamming, ye negative sides of it, but gambling "is a choice", it's here, in real life as well, sure kids get to it as well, but you shouldn't ignore the problem, that you should enlight the kids for this and don't just take it away. So with scamming, those matters are the same in real life, but through the internet you just feel more of the impact.
I can't see any reason for Valve to shut this down.
except Valve doesnt want people to gamble with skins, just as simple
it doesnt matter whether or not the community doesnt mind what is essentially unlicensed illegal gambling.
No, Valve does not support such things.
You can't rent out a skin. If the user they gave it to chooses not to return it, then there is nothing they can do about it.
If a user gives them skins and they don't give the user anything in return, there is nothign the user can do about it.
If they don't return a deposit, then there is nothing the user can do about it.
It is way open to being scammed in both directions.
Also, there is a 7 day cooldown on skins after a trade, so unless they are bypassing that (could get a lot of accounts closed) then it would fail as a rental service.
You sure Valve doesn't want this? They only did something when the US Media got in touch with the element, since kids were gambling that's why Valve had to take action for the reputitation.
I wouldn't call that coincidence.
I said, you should check the Website first, before you make such arguments. It has their safe instructions, it follows the 7 day trade-ban on an item and works with the rules Valve made for trading. Safety instructions given for Fraud as well.
reported.
That site is an open invite to get items/money/deposits stolen.
Valve does not support or endorse the use of thirdpartysites for trading, they warn about it and ask users to stay within the system created by Valve for trading.
BTW.
This topic smell more like an advertising than a honest question for said site, you seems to know everything, you even claim that it's safe to use.
You have gotten you answer multiple times, here it is once more, Valve does not support/approve/endorse sites like that in any whay what so ever.
whats the incentive for Valve to endorse sites that are essentially cutting into their revenue stream?
