Why is steam trying to redownload a game i was just playing ?
i downloaded watchdogs 2 on the 8/6/18 . It is now 8/22/18. I was able to hit redownload and it said something like " verifying aready verified files" and in like 20 seconds i had the full 25 Gigabyte game redownloaded... I know the files were still on my pc because i checked. I know that my internet is not that fast to download 25 gb in 20 seconds no game on steam downloads that fast for me but anyways ...

my overall question is .... " Is this going to be a reaccuring thing where steam tries to force me to redownload my games that i already have installed ? " also what causes this problem ?

please respond soon and thanks in advance.

the verification is not a download and it also doesn't display it like that.

it will reoccur if your files keep getting corrupted for unknown reasons and those can be anything from interfering software to a faulty drive.

ok guys please reply to this comment if the following statement is true....

I think i know what happend .... i started watchdogs 2 , did the prologue and one side misson.
I went to an ingame store and downloaded the free dlc for the game. I restarted my computer to get rid of activate windows 10 watermark, and started up steam . Steam showed the install window for when you install a game for the first time. I clicked next and at the top of the window it said verifying game cache or something like that ... but showed up as if i had to download 25 gb again... and no the dlc was not 25gb it downloaded for 20 seconds. The game in my library was no longer showing install after that...

so weird because i know i had it installed as its the only game on my pc ... I even checked before doing so all the files were there in the steam folder . I even tried to run the executable but steam kept prompting me to do an install of the whole game... Glitch maybe ??

One way to prebent that might be to actually buy an OS so you do not feel the need to restart your PC at random times.
