is there a reason you need to know? If you have a question, start reading the legal aggreements you clicked on. the SSA is a good start.

The short answer is Valve owns it and has the right to take it all away at anytime for any reason, per the SSA.

just wondering. I know that the steam games are considered subscriptions. I don't know about the items, but I do know that valve owns your account, you basically subscribe to valve itself by purchasing games or items. so presumably seeing as they can shut down your account whenever they want would that mean everything on it is legally owned by valve?

Yes, per the SSA, everything is owned by Valve. BTW, you didn't buy games, you bought licences, that's not the same thing.

Surprise! Players on Steam are commodity, not customers.

I notice that some generic, private account that has never even posted on the forum, did post on your profile to thank you for letting you "borrow" their skins so you could gamble them and then pay them back with interest. *cough* *SCAM* *cough* Excuse me...is that perhaps why you're "just wondering?"

No? I’m wondering so I can know my rights in the event I ever do get scammed. Not everyone who borrows skins is a scammer, I flipped them on cs.money for my friend to help him out. It sucks counterstrike has become so full of scammers that there’s this much distrust within the community.

..... In before "I got scammed!!!"

seriously, *they are all scammers* and *you will get scammed*.

A lot of them are. But just because I borrowed one of my friends skins and flipped it for him on cs money and gave him more back, I don’t get how that makes me a scammer.

About generalization about ssa`s:
"Did you read the section about your first born in the ssa?"

Oh, no I didn't. Thanks for telling me, I had no idea Valve could claim my soul if I didn't mail them my firstborn's head within the first four years of membership.

depends on item. there are up to 4 parties involved in this process. the most complex one is a workshop submission.

1. user
2. Valve
3. dev/pub
4. workshop submitter (another user)

the user never owns an item, unless it is their workshop submission and the dev/pub of the game has a specific clause in their agreements that mentions that the submitter remains ownership of the item. the default is that even after you submit something, you give your right up on it, including copyright.

the legal agreements between dev and Valve can differ, so there is no general answer to your question other then that you as a user are most likely do not own any item in your inventory.
