Relax now and play some games.
apply common sense.
a billion dollar company will never contact you on a human level without your prior request, especially not over methods and features that are named "friends" on their own platform.
issues with a user are always over other communication methods. that is standard procedure.
Common sense is enough to spot them. If you lack common sense then you'll fall for them.
Bait, story, steps
Hey I had a friend who actually had his account stolen by someone using this same formula. It was probably the same person. I am currently on a mission to retrieve my friend's account. I would really like to bring this person to justice. I have the links of several alt accounts they are using after doing some digging. They are pretending to be Valve and Steam moderators, which is illegal. Could you send me the screenshots? I don't care if you blur any sensitive information.
you are also wasting your time, you will not be bringing anyone to justice. most of the accounts used are stolen and the scammers just throw them away when they get banned.
if you see an account the tries to impersonate a valve/steam employee, report it and move on
It is a common scam. Unlikely to be "the same person".
