Highly doubt it. Steam does not do regional holiday discounts. The sales are worldwide always and to be honest, some indian festival is just too obscure a reason.

But in 2 weeks the Steam Halloween sale will start.

Ogami, Diwali is not just "some indian festival", it's huge!

Still, as Steam is a USA based company they follow western (Christian) festivities & holidays. Besides, the Steam Client can't make that difference all on it's own. Gamers would go all out using IPmasks to appear being from a different culture at every event.

calendar system based beliefs aside, none of the sales Valve holds on Steam are based on any religion, so lets not start with that.

It's unlikely they will have anything for Diwali. We had the Chinese New Year one last year which was a bit of a one-off it seems but other than that; the calendar is more focused on simply Winter/Summer and things like Halloween. You never know though.

Assuming Valve follows any religion is pretty false and not something you should spread around Bumbefly.

General sales are for each season, i.e. Summer, etc. Other special ones would be like Halloween, which isn't a religious holiday.

As a company it would be terrible for them to select only a certain religion's holidays, and insane to expect them to throw one for every. Keeping religion out of business is a fair way to go about things without discrimination taking place.

So the likelihood of a Diwali sale happening is fairly low.

Yeah the word "follow" can be interpreted as misleading here, i agree it's not a very good choise of words. However i did not exactly say Valve follows a religion. "follow western (Christian) festivities & holidays" ("holidays" being 1 word) is what i wrote, not "follow Christian Holy days" ("Holy days" being 2 words where-of 1 capitalized).

What Steram calls "Summer Sales" actually are wintertime sales for the southern hemisphere.

Haloween is a USA Melting Pot festivity derived from the Christian All Souls' Day and a few Pagan celebrations to chase away evil spirits before winter sets in.
