worm virus
I was playing a game with my friend and mid game he said that something odd is happening.
We found out that he got a virus over steam, some person sent him the link and he clicked without checking it.
It automaticly downloads if you dont have the option in your browser enabled to ask if you want to download or not.
It seems that every 2-3 minutes it sends a link of a picutre saying "haha lol" and then the link to every friend on steam.
I wanna notify that you be careful about any links sent on steam. If you get these types of messages dont open the link just block or unfriend the profile

**Its possible to remove the virus. Some anti-virus software will detect it some won't

As careful as your friend, eh? Face it, nobody who needs to be warned will read this. Now format your friend's system and change logins to EVERYTHING from a safe device.

That is why you don’t click on any suspicious links
The same ol' "haha lol" that has been going around for ages meets the new generation of kids that don't understand how to not click random things. :steamfacepalm:

Yep.
Virus bots every year nice.
Viruses that upload just on clicking a link are very nasty.

S.x.
as always.
1) you click the link
2) it downloads in your webbrowser
3) you open the file with the exe/scr/bat/com ending.

otherwise this would not work and until step 2 everything is still fine, no harm done, just the last step knocks it.

99.9999% of the malware links you get are simple no-exploit based drive-by downloads, they still require manual steps done by you in order to work.
I suggest you change the title of this post, as this wasn't a virus from steam itself (it was a virus from someone sending a link that was clicked)
