Simply reminding people of the rules is not enforcing them.
Wanting to get someone banned, so you rally a bunch of people to report their account in an attempt to make a moderator think the user has done something to warrant getting a bunch of reports and ban them.
That's the thing, when people advertise their server in the gmod forums i usually tell them to go advertise in the right subforum (or don't advertise at all if they're advertising a discord server or steam group), they usually resort to "stop backseat moderating u dont know wut ur talking about"
It's like if someone tells you they're going to rob a store, then you tell them that's illegal, then they get all defensive and say, "Stop backseat policing. You're not a cop."
I agree with this statement wholly.
Threats and the like would also count as backseat moderation though.
Tho of course, I am a hypocrite, and I do sometimes respond "Hey, no backseat moderating!"
As long as you are only reminding and not going further than that, you should be fine. I have never been warned for reminding other users which specific rule(s) they were violating.
