Installing Steam games to a disk
I have a bunch of empty 4.7 gb dvds so I was wondering if I could install Half Life or Battlefront 2 or a game like that to them so I could either Install them to other computers/ play them via disc on other computers. Is it possible?

So you want to distribute illegal copies of the software?

If you want to make backups, use Create/Restore Game Backup option (or something like that) in Steam menu.
Wow, it actually does sound like that lol. I understand why its not a feature now

It's also wildly impractical because of the speed (or lack of) from optical drives and the fact that you wouldn't be able to change anything unless you left it as an open disk on a re-write.

i have some other numbers for you.

90% of Steam games are not even available in any physical form
90% of the games that are, contain outdated data on release.

you cant play the game from the disc but you can use the files to install on another pc
or keep them as a backup so you dont have to redownload entire games everytime.

just goto the folder where you installed the game and burn the folder to a disc or copy to a thumbdrive, default is
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\....choose the game you want to backup
