Hilariously you can still talk to people in steam offline mode?
Did you know if you turned off your internet for you can type in a username of someone who has logged into your PC and then type in what ever password? Actually you can also use the button that says "Go Offline"
If you then reconnect yourself to the internet you can recieve and send messages. Although the person you want to send messages to has to send you a message first.

I haven't tested to see if you can do both of them and mess with people but i'd say this is probably a security issue no? It is indeed a bug though. http://prntscr.com/fczgg7

Funny part is I found a thread talking about this from 2 years ago with someone saying it's not a bug hilariously.

How is knowing someone's account name and password a "security flaw on Steam"

Account name and account name only* If you log into say a friends computer? They then can log in when ever in offline mode and get messages. You don't need to put in a password in offline mode to log in. You can try it yourself actually.

So I now need physical access to your computer that you checked the saved credentials on

Again how is this a security issue. This is like complaining your deadbolt doesn't work when you leave the back patio door open

If I have physical access to your computer you are totally screwed. This is not a steam issue

That analogy doesn't even fit in this at all... Also I didn't even know that was there hilariously. It's more of a trolling issue allowing someone to get free access to reply to anyone who sends a message to you if you were to say family share with them.
It's still an issue that should be fixed.

I find it most interesting, how you don't actually have to be "friends" to message in chat.

What? You mean after you unfriend someone you can still talk if you leave the chat open?

Unless they finally fixed that.... Yeah. Exactly that.

So you basically say you can log into an account that has its credentials stored locally.
And you are saying that you will receive messages on this account if you are connected to the internet.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it is supposed to work.

Meanwhile "Friends is not available in offline mode."
You sound like TF2 team except in reverse and you're calling a bug a feature instead of a feature a bug.

If you are online, you can receive messages. Woopdidoopdidoo. Just because your friend status is "offline" doesn't change the fact that your account is online.

Else make yourself clear.

So what's the point of them going through the trouble of removing the people you have family shared, not letting you launch those games, not being able to browse the store, not having the webbrowser work, not letting you download any games, and saying that you have to be in online mode to view your friends list?

Also what's the point in calling it offline mode if you're online and connected to the internet?

I tested that with someone, its odd, as it seems they where able to message me, but i was not able to message them (as in first, after the first message you can keep talking)
Not sure how that works yet
