If you don't like what someone is doing legally, do something about it legally. If you feel like you can't, do better.
In the US, at least, there's plenty of opportunity for people to do things legally. It's purposefully slow to prevent rash decisions, but it's still possible.
Vigilantes should just be honest and say that they like the violence and just want attention.
As for feasibility, it entirely depends where you do it. Good chance you will get killed in a place that has serious criminality.
