Agreed. Violent people are attracted to violent games, rather then the other way round.
It's mainly about dealing with problems.
There's several creative ways to deal with issues, it just depends on how you let it go.
For instance those horror paintings from "raw emotions" etc. Or even punk for instance, which is a musical way to release stress...
I just get the feeling people these days are overly stressed and don't deal with it... then again, society is in such a hurry people don't know if they're behind or ahead of themselves anymore.
