SERIES
Babylon 5,
BSG Reboot,
Breaking Bad (not into crime drama normally, but show was awesome).
FILMS
Yojimbo the balls on that guy.
The Edge of Tomorrow Live/Die/Repeat. It's not just surface level superficial dumb action movie, but it can be watched that way.
I did buy Game of Thrones on BluRay as I liked that, but I despise TV so otherwise I dont' watch it.
There's a number of moveis I like but they tend to gel in line with the best movies on IMDB generally. I loved City of God (a Brazilian film) or Come and See (a Russian film).
Then there's the obligatory standards like Shawshank Redemption, The Godfather 1 and 2 and so on.
The Aliens series is a perennial too. People tend to overlook the first one for it's groundbreaking nature. They point to Star Wars as being the ground breaker but rarely mention Alien in that regard which was only two years later and still head and shoulder above anything else I was watching at the time.
But generally speaking I have zero interest in TV and movies I'm a bit snobby about. I cannot stand the drivel that Netflix turns out.
Probbaly why I spend so much time on video games, music and books. They'll do for me.
Just a few movies that come to mind, but there are more.

When it comes to current Star Trek I always think of the Edgar suit in MIB. Something really nasty got into Star Trek and it's constantly rotting and falling apart. Current Star Trek is just like the Edgar suit. It's walking, talking, but its looks more messed up as time goes by.
From what I've seen of the new stuff, it's just an action flick for adrenaline junkies, with no real depth to it.
- Lord of the Rings Trilogy
- Vacation, Christmas Vacation, European Vacation
- Home Alone 1 and 2
- Space Balls
- Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian
- First six Star Trek movies (even the "bad" ones)
