Depends on what you mean by "better".

Apparently Spacex, based on the ability to return astronauts from orbit.

We will see how the Artemis mission goes.

"We have investigated the matter, and Musk has decided that NASA is to be shut down, with all funding to be diverted into a grant for SpaceX"

Literally the "We have investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing" meme.

Once NASA stopped using the space shuttle and relying on other nations/companies rockets for most near Earth space missions, they have just been costing on their past successes. I hope they are creating better experiments with the money they save from using rockets from third parties.

nasa does very impressive things with the TINY budget it today has in comparasing to the past.
and thus nasa nasa today just opts to send propes and do science missions.. to study the universe..
-this includes many monitors for monitoring the climate and situation down here on earth as well as solarflames and all that.
-may not be as flashy.. but even if you believe like me there is no co2 issue and that change is natural.. having eventually the means to predict weather on such a more accurate and long term scale.. does have great benefits.. like what crops to seed.. when to build flood defences etc.. BEFORE stuff goes wrong..

while space-X just leeches of the tech nasa invented and does the more flashy stuff.. that adds little new knowledge..

so nasa still pushes the boundry..
while space-X just tries to offload some of the cost of the more mundane stuff to some billionaire playboys
-> maybe the real perversion is there are such billionaire playboys who by a corrupt system leech of the labours of their employees and customers so much.. that the wealth disparity today makes that of the 1900s when children worked in factory.. downright egalitarian

yeah we all love to see stuff like moonlandings.. and first man on mars and all that... and love the idea of one day being able to book a trip to the moon ourself for the price we now pay for a trip to disneyland or a cruise...
but fact is that all adds very little new scientiffic value..

NASA needs to be brought to task for only hiring people named Houston

SpaceX exists because NASA programs like COTS and CLPS nurtured SpaceX and its growth. SpaceX wouldn't be sending humans much of anywhere in space unless NASA pay them to do it... that's the bottom line.

So it's not a NASA vs SpaceX competition. It's more like SpaceX is an innovation NASA more or less nurtured into existence.

NASA deserves credit for SpaceX.

Depends what you are looking at. Spacex operates commercially, NASA doesnt.

They have different goals.
