I'm really good at predicting box office, but was totally off on this one.

Thought it was going to do big business. 25 million is disastrous, and I don't really get why nobody went to see it.

It’s been nearly 10 years since we had a mad max movie, instead we get a spin off side character where Hollywood is using the girl boss trope to death and everyone is sick of it.

Mad max fans are smart enough to know it’s not a mad max movie, it’s just another hollywood slop flick using its name to try to sell more tickets.

Furiosa can screw off, I want mad max. The only way I would have seen this is if it was a year or two after fury road followed by a mainline movie with max. It’s so obvious they don’t want to do max

There is a reason why movie stars get the big bucks, particularly for sequels and prequels to successful movies. If you remove the main actor/character, a lot of people will assume it is a cheap cash in movie of questionable quality trying to ride the coattails of the previous success (and in this case riding in very late on the coattails), because that has been tried enough times before to make people wary. It doesn't take too many "Speed 2" type debacles to poison the well.
