As for whether or not Valve would acquire it...no. It would be a bad thing.
I do hope that the acquisition doesn't go through. Microsoft already is a juggernaut, making them bigger doesn't seem to be a good thing.
Valve does not have enough to make an offer.
Anyway, Microsoft is appealing the CMA ruling - they might win since everyone else is making the CMA ruling look freakin’ silly. Also, the UK government is totally going to apply some indirect pressure.
Even if the CMA finds against them again, Microsoft might just go “screw the UK!” and buy it anyway. They wouldn’t want to - it’s not ideal at all - but it’s possible. Maybe run the companies as two legal separate entities in the UK?
Fingers-crossed it goes through, I want Sierra’s catalog out from under A&B - it’s been totally wasted.
*Valve
Valve can't buy Activision Blizzard.
MS is one of not many candidates to be able to do something with this decaying minefield.
