Go back to page 2. I said almost the exact same thing.
And yet I get up early today and this thread is still going.
Alrighty!!

Solve this one:
After waiting precisely 3 months and saving a budget of $5000, you embark on an 8000 mile journey. You take a flight in which the plane flies at an average air speed of 600 MPH and an average altitude of 42,000 feet. These are both roughly 85% of the plane's rated capacity.
Upon travelling exactly 75% of the journey the plane runs into severe trouble and crashes exactly halfway on the border of North and South Korea.
On which side of the border should they bury the survivors?
It was meant for the OP- so you did fail the first sentence test.
Many fail the last sentence test. You did pass that one.
You scored 50%.
Alright, bonus points for initiative.
The North Koreans pillage the wreckage and put the "advanced war plane" engines and components on display in Pyongyang next to the USS Pueblo. This is proof that North Korea is highly advanced and defeated the USA yet again.
The corpses are probably recovered by the South Koreans after they chase off the norks and are sent back home for burial.
No, well done IQ tests are just problem solving, shape rotation, whats missing, whats next, no verbal or math needed, a high IQ child will understand the purpose and will be cognitively rewarded for being able to solve it, a virtuous cycle. Unmotivated children are usually just not smart.
Tests on adopted twins and triplets have been buried because what was revealed about nurture vs nature was inconvenient, measures in childhood likely correlate to future performance, more genetic than based on environment. The documentary Three Identical Strangers covers one such experiment, but like the original researchers they couldn't handle the conclusions.
I.Q. tests are a great way of telling how well someone can do on an I.Q. test.
That's about all they are good for.
I've seen people whilst AT MENSA who couldn't would make some rather silly mistakes.
In other words, I've met people who were incredibly intelligent in one area but useless in another. For example, in politics I know of a certain ex-member of parliament who is INCREDIBLY fast with basic maths. It made them pretty effective at economics and such. But they tried to do some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in other areas, notably trying to clear out a blocked drain with their hoover.
I didn't say they had common sense. In fact often quite the opposite.
"Edward de Bono: [S]ome intelligent people may turn out to be rather poor thinkers: they are caught in the 'intelligence trap'...able to construct a coherent support for a particular point of view. The more able...the less do they see any need actually to explore the subject."
