Why do people hate Fortnite so much?
Why do people, mainly adults, hate that game so much? I'm 27 and I don't get why many people round my age or older than me hate it. My friends play it but every here and there i see people complaining about it being a kids game and being cringe or idk.

I played once on my Switch but i found it pretty hard to play with the joycons and in it's screen, maybe i should give it a try on PC :marijacooing:

Not a pay-to-win game at all. Nothing you purchase will affect the gameplay, except for perhaps a skinny character vs a larger one? The larger one could be a bigger target to shoot at? However, if you know how to play that game, it shouldn't be an issue anyways with all the building and running around.

True

I never really understood why everyone's knee-jerk reaction to Fortnite and other games as such is always "pay to win"... they seem to just label it as such if they have a hard time winning... when the only purchase is skins...

Maybe because those who play longer and have more experience in game and are harder to kill / get more kills have the fancy skins... unaware that they had to work to get them.... but also unaware because it's possible to also just purchase them?

As far as "skinny character vs a larger one" I do believe that's why some players use the "female" version rather then the "male" version of the character... smaller frame = smaller hitbox but then again it's different from game to game... some hitboxes are the same despite the character's graphical frame...

Not that I'm an expert in this... lol ; )

I hear it's fun, Sean O'Malley (UFC fighter) used to play it & made money out of it, i heard on a podcast with max Holloway (another UFC fighter)

Lowkey-ad.. ufc273in about ten days is gonna be lit(!!) None of the fighters mentioned are involved but whatever, the card is stacked

Never played fortnight. I watched my kids play it and it's like borderlands to damn cartoony looking.

Played it a couple times. Feels like a walking simulator where I wander pointlessly just to get shot from across the map and killed.

Then again, that's every battle royale for me. I guess I just don't like battle royale.

Simple, its over rated and popularised by children that are easily impressed.

The only thing I like about it is its deaf support but it annoys me greatly no other game has a similar feature but are perfectly fine ripping off the money making aspect such as battle passes.

I don't hate it, but beating 12 year olds and bots isn't really satisfying.

I also really dislike it when any game adds bots to online matches.

my thoughts too I tried it some years back and I got a victory royale on my second game, the first game I got second because I was new to BR and didn't know about the fog. Not satisfying beating up kids.

I'm apathetic personally, but I think I can break it down.

1. It has an aesthetic that appeals primarily to 8 year olds (and older gamers generally despise younger ones)
2 The building mechanic doesn't fit in with traditional hardcore FPS twitch shooters
3. It popularized the battle royale, which then infected every other game franchise
4. It's popular (and there's always people who irrationally hate whatever is extremely popular)

I don't hate it as I've never played it. I've never played it as it doesn't appeal to me

Not my cup of tea

I don't like BR games, and I don't like third person shooters. Maybe the only third person shooters I liked, were the Splinter Cell games, despite their wonky controls. That, and Metal Gear Solid.

several reasons on my end and experience:

1. kiddie fodder where all the kids go to splurge. Ive been in CoD since middle school i don't need another trip down memory lane

2. cringe. Everything. The people who play it to the streamers especially

3. Gameplay is eh. Before was pve but became generic pvp garbage

4. MT galore.

5. The one i hate personally is it's made by epic and epic's cash cow they're milking dry. Once it dies epic will lose a good chunk of revenue.

PVP is stressful. People don't like game that get you full of rage quit. Have you looked up YT videos compilation of rage quit? People do crazy stuff...Though, to be fair, it generally happens to any game out there with pvp, fornite is just one of those...Bottom line is that people want to win, not lose. Losing is not fun in game.

Personally, I don't hate Fortnite. I just think it's boring. And this is coming from someone who used to play it and would routinely make it to the endgame per se. Battle Royale as a genre is akin to Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas, in that the game itself is incredibly boring after a while but if there's good lore or fanmade content then I can see myself sticking with it.

Though there isn't enough cute fan art of Tristana, Poppy and Lulu in the world to keep me playing League of Legends. Because the community is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful it makes me want to yeet myself into oncoming traffic just by interacting with them.

That tangent aside, yeah I don't hate Fortnite. I just think it's boring. And there isn't enough content a la lore or fanmade content to keep me interested.

Nor are there any good waifus. No I don't care that you've got some skins from various popular games, skins do not equate to character they equate to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cosplay.

I don't like cosplay. It's cringe.

my take on it is we had Unreal Tournament 3 which was the last game that focused on the older generation, then it all changed, the older generation became so critical that i think they just gave up on the older audience and started to change things anyone whos played Unreal 2 will know that, Unreal 3 is probably never gonna exist but i kind of wish it would, i've never been one for multiplayer games i guess i've always been antisocial gaming was my escape from society not a way back into it, but times have changed in a way i think it's good that the modern generation is more social it will probably help them in the long run, but still being an older gamer it is sad and kind of painfull to watch your sanctuary die, i think we've had a lot of social change in the last 10 years and gaming just kind of reflects that in a way.

For me, the building. Why the hell do I have to build a hotel building just to win in a 1v1?
https://youtube.com/shorts/RKQkVGgsvzc?feature=share

I've played a game called "Ace of Spades" and you build using small blocks and its not as much of a gimmick compared to fortnite.

Another reason... it's a battle royal game. The game is completely RNG. You have a 1/99 chance of winning. 4/99 assuming you're playing in a squad.

Whenever I hear someone say fortnite takes skill, which it does to a degree, I scoff since it's mostly based on luck. Same thing with deathmatch shooters.

Never played it, but in general it feels like there are too many children (clearly, if it's marketed towards them) and microtransactions. Also ePig.

Numbers speak for themselves....

With over 350 million users and like 80 million active users per month
Game makes around $5 billion a year

So clearly, its not hated. If it was so hated, it would of gone of out business years ago.
