Maybe you just have a biased view that all gamers are loud and angry like the ones you've described.
People who tell me they're about to puke. At least they give me fair warning, I'll give them credit for that.
next time you're waiting in line yell it. Everyone will immediately clear out and you'll go right to the front.
Don't get me started on when people come to talk to me without doing the usual "hey insert name here" and say their thing instead of coming to bother me while I am in the middle of something.
Oh i know, I've been a gamer myself for decades. Its why i am here, its where i go for pc games. I generally enjoy off topic here with moderation. You can talk about games, or other things without actually having to deal with the 'gamers' due to the mods and rules.
biased view? perhaps. i can only go from my own life experiences though.
I've lead board game groups or card game events and they always turn into a night mare, for one reason or another. people asking if they can do 'substances', overly drinking, acting completely idiotic, people thinking its dress up day and pretending to be pirates or w/e, extreme perverted language. Its like people hear game event and think its just an anarchy free-for-all to be the worst version of yourself.
same with video games.
Been to cons, same crowd. cons tend to be more just weird non gaming stuff. like its a halloween freak fest or something, with all the included obnoxious behaviour, language, and odors.
Tourneys, same crowd, just add anger and nerd rage. I have seen some crazy
Been to gaming events where we'd end up trying to sell games etc like a booth.. literally last time we went my girl was like never again. She was creeped on more than a horror movie. She was beyond uncomfortable to the point she was like , im done. literally.
Anytime we are online MP, its just a FFA of perversions, racism, substance use, and just general debauchary with hate filled banter. Or people trying to just ruin your game for w/e reason.
these arent just one offs, this is years of this literally. Last time i even went near a game stop, something happened and someone had raged and knocked over a game rack, and it was just sorta chaotic. yelling, etc.
I'm done and i'm over it. 'gamer' to me now sadly paints a picture of rudeness, crudeness, and just hateful attitudes in general.
I'll stick to SP games or MP with fam and no more events, tourneys, or cons.
Change where and when you play.
If you can change servers (regionally) try that. Otheriwse, whenever I play online, I typically avoid the hours of 4pm to 10pm as you can mitigate the chances of both iteinerant teens and people that similarly like to play with them.
Know it alls who are bluffing(armchair experts)
Snobby people
Bullies
People who think and act like they know you when in reality they know barely anything
People who spy on others(so breech privacy). Then gossip as if they've done no wrong
Attention seekers
Shallow people
Passive aggrressive people
People who try to test your knowledge through trickery(its a hard one to explain, like trying to set you up for a fall).
