You're kind of really late on this OP, but I agree with you. I saw the 7th movie and it left such a sour taste in my mouth..I have refused to see the 8th, Rogue One or the new Solo movie. They are just...horrible. It just doesnt feel like Star Wars anymore. It just feels like a generic sci-fi movie.

Worst part is that Disney is taking elements from the EU and making them worse. Thats the part that really pisses me off. "Creative licensing" my ass. Starkiller Base? Really? I wonder where they got that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ name from. Inb4 "that was the original name for Luke Skywalker"...we all know thats not where they got it from. Force Unleashed says hello and nevermind the fact that Starkiller Base is basically a larger version of the Sun Crusher and Kylo Ren is basically a worse version of Darth Caedus and Rey is basically a worse version of Jaina Solo and Finn is Corran Horn or Kyp Durron, either or, and Han dies (Chewbacca dies in the EU). Wouldn't surprise me if in Episode 9, the galaxy gets invaded by some extragalactic species, as what happened in the EU with the Yuuzhan Vong.

The inconsistencies are also through the roof in Episode 7. Im still trying to figure out how Rey was able to go toe-to-toe with Kylo Ren and kick his ass while only just learning how to use a lightsaber in like 2 minutes...against a dude who trained under the Grandmaster himself (Luke Skywalker)...reminder that Luke didn't even use a lightsaber in combat in Episode 4, because surprise surprise, you have to be trained to use one, but Rey picks it up like she'd been using it from the start of the movie.

and the best part. The worst video game publisher on the entire planet now has absolute control over the Star Wars video game license. As if it wasn't bad enough that Disney controlled the franchise, they just had to pass it over to the company that was voted "worst video game company" twice in a row....

My childhood is basically dead, and sorry for the rant. Im a huge Star Wars nerd.

I can actually answer this one half way for you.

I can't explain why Rey was capable of using it with any degree of competence, but I CAN tell you why Kylo lost.

So, remember that dark side ability that allowed a dark side wielder to remain alive when they should have died through their sheer anger and hatred alone? Darth Maul used this to survive the duel on Naboo, as the most well known example. Also remember that bowcaster that Chewie had which pretty much destroyed everyone hit by it?

After Han died, Chewie shot Kylo with that. That hurt, a lot. He should have died but only survived through the sheer power of his mastery of the force. So that whole fight, Kylo is only barely even in the fight. He's also trying to use the force to not die from his wounds. He would have slaughtered Rey if not for the fact that he was forced to dedicate most of his attention and force mastery on just staying alive.

all of that said, Rey still had no business actually wielding that weapon so well. It would have made more sense if she had used it to block weak attacks, kick him in the chest (wound) when she gets an opening, and then simply run away while he is momentarally stunned after being kicked in what should have been a fatal wound.

You're referring to Force Rage, correct? At least thats what its called in the EU. But yeah, it still doesnt make much sense. My biggest concern is regarding how Rey was able to wield a lightsaber so fluently without any training. Although, Im sure it will be retconned in some manner.

Same goes for Finn who is also able to just pick up a lightsaber and wield it. On another note, I just love how he picks up the lightsaber, uses it and then we're all just supposed to somehow forget that he is force sensitive...or maybe he isn't. I didn't watch Episode 8 and Im probably never going to, considering how disgusted I was with Episode 7. So is that ever really explained?
I enjoy imagining The Force Awakens like a game, but with Rey playing in NG+. She's so good at everything because she already unlocked all the upgrades.

I accept that Kylo was signifigantly less deadly because of Force Rage. I do not accept that Rey and Fin could just casuallypick up a lightsaber and use it as an effective weapon. They should have been clumsy and the lack of training should have seriously shown.

And no. They never explain that.

I mean, Finn himself showed some clumsyness when he first used it (fighting stormtroopers), but Rey, she has no excuse. She's a Mary Sue.

It was Magic Girl and Gary Stu. Don’t get me wrong, in order to fit a 1.5-2 hour frame there does have to be some condensing. If you cover everything you’ll end up with another Dogville or Avatar. What this does not excuse is rampant “of course (s)he can.”

You can choose whether to believe in the EU or not, I think Disney is still allowing some of those books to be written. If you want to think the Extended Universe Exists, no one is stopping you and you are better off if you enjoy what you like rather than focusing on what you don't accept or like.
I pretend episode 7,8,9 doesnt exist. I'll allow rogue one to exist and yet to be determined if solo will exist.

disney already killed star wars with the force awakens - pure gutter sjw trash movie.
some would say the prequels killed it.

The original Star Wars had a woman (Princess Leia) and a black guy (Lando Calrissian) in it, and another black guy if you count James Earl Jones portrayal as the iconic voice of Darth Vader or as you would call it "pure gutter sjw trash."

Don't worry though. Someone recut Last Jedi and took the women out of it so it wouldn't hurt certain peoples' fragile feelings.

The cast doesnt make it sjw, the script does. In no way does the new movie even come close to the originals. Hell it doesnt even compare to the prequels, they're based too heavily on the original movies and not a fresh new story. They should have made a trilogy based on knights of the old republic - that would have been a million times better and fresh.
