I can't explain why Rey was capable of using it with any degree of competence, but I CAN tell you why Kylo lost.
So, remember that dark side ability that allowed a dark side wielder to remain alive when they should have died through their sheer anger and hatred alone? Darth Maul used this to survive the duel on Naboo, as the most well known example. Also remember that bowcaster that Chewie had which pretty much destroyed everyone hit by it?
After Han died, Chewie shot Kylo with that. That hurt, a lot. He should have died but only survived through the sheer power of his mastery of the force. So that whole fight, Kylo is only barely even in the fight. He's also trying to use the force to not die from his wounds. He would have slaughtered Rey if not for the fact that he was forced to dedicate most of his attention and force mastery on just staying alive.
all of that said, Rey still had no business actually wielding that weapon so well. It would have made more sense if she had used it to block weak attacks, kick him in the chest (wound) when she gets an opening, and then simply run away while he is momentarally stunned after being kicked in what should have been a fatal wound.

Return of the Jedi lol
You're referring to Force Rage, correct? At least thats what its called in the EU. But yeah, it still doesnt make much sense. My biggest concern is regarding how Rey was able to wield a lightsaber so fluently without any training. Although, Im sure it will be retconned in some manner.
Same goes for Finn who is also able to just pick up a lightsaber and wield it. On another note, I just love how he picks up the lightsaber, uses it and then we're all just supposed to somehow forget that he is force sensitive...or maybe he isn't. I didn't watch Episode 8 and Im probably never going to, considering how disgusted I was with Episode 7. So is that ever really explained?
And no. They never explain that.
The original Star Wars had a woman (Princess Leia) and a black guy (Lando Calrissian) in it, and another black guy if you count James Earl Jones portrayal as the iconic voice of Darth Vader or as you would call it "pure gutter sjw trash."
Don't worry though. Someone recut Last Jedi and took the women out of it so it wouldn't hurt certain peoples' fragile feelings.
