i rather prefer to watch content in its original form and sound, no matter is it anime or other medium
so 1
unless it is ghost stories - only good english dub and best studio quality ''abridged''.

I don’t watch that much anime, but when I do it’s usually 1.

Just depends. Sometimes the English dub is better than the Japanese Dub( Yu Yu hakusho, Samurai Champloo, FMAB) or sometimes I just don't feel like reading subtitles.

I'm guessing this only applies if there actually IS a dub.

In that case, I generally assume that the German dub (if one exists) sucks anyway. Americans might not have the dubbing experience that German studios have, but they tend to take the source material more seriously.

Therefore, if an English dub exists, I tend to watch an episode or two in both Japanese (with subtitles) and English, to see if they "sound" similar enough. Sometimes, this shows other issues --- like the English sub and dub might be considerably different.

Thus, I'm not actually too disappointed if there's no English dub. It makes choosing the version to watch much easier :-)

Probably Japanese, but there are shows I've watched where the dub is better and more suited.

English dub if it has it. I like to enjoy the animation and not have to stare at the bottom screen to read whats going on.
