Free games/Giveaways by Publishers/Developers and/or Authorized Retailers!

This thread is to let people know of games made available by Publishers/Developers and/or Authorized Retailers for free.

Shortcut to Current Giveaways

I will keep this up to date as best I can and as I am informed of such giveaways. I will not be searching out these giveaways, so I am relying on the community to keep me informed.

Requirements for Giveaway to be posted:
Must be on an Authorized Retailer or Official site
Giveaway must be free to everyone
No requirements beyond an account and/or service
No contests, lottery or raffle Giveaways
No limited quantity Giveaways
Dedicated Giveaway page (not one buried in the store)
Computer Games/Software Only
More may be added as needed

I will not give credit for listings as multiple people may have informed me of the same Giveaway.

Grey market (unauthorized reseller), user or anything that looks like it may not be safe/legal, will not be listed and will be deleted from this thread. If I am not sure of the source, I may remove it/not list it just to be safe.

If a user wishes to giveaway a game, they can:
Post in a game's trading sub-forum.
Post in a giveaway group.
Use Steam Gifts[www.steamgifts.com] (not owned or operated by Valve)

I reserve the right to stop updating this thread, lock it or delete it, for any reason and at any time

*3rd party Giveaways posted out-side of this thread are considered advertising and will be removed and the user warned or banned (if previously warned).

**There will be no criticizing/complaining about the services/companies giving away these games. They are free games and you are not forced to get them. Discussion of the games is allowed, provided there is no arguing and it is done with in reason. Remember, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and no one has to agree with anyone else.

Same here, though I do choose Steam if all things being equal.

I liked the older games on GOG, but was disappointed by a recent purchase. Was always under the impression that all of it was DRM free, though that seems to have changed in reguards to some games. For example, the 8-bit Army (and similar) is diffrent from a direct download vs GOG Galaxy. The direct version does not allow you to play multiplayer, even on a LAN. You are forced to use GOG Galaxy and download it from there if you want any kind of multiplayer and both require the account and client.

I got it at the same time that the one on Steam was on sale and wish I had spent the few dollars more for the Steam version. At least I could use family share with my son so he could play online with his friends.

M&B vanilla hasn't been updated since 2013 (v1.011), while Warband just got a patch on the 14th (v1.172). Vanilla came out in 2008, while Warband came in 2010, so vanilla had 2 years for modders to learn and make lots of small mods (hence the larger number of files). By the time Warband came out they knew what they were doing. Most of the good stuff was converted for Warband and that's where they still recieve updates, while most of the old versions for vanilla M&B are just left as-is.

M&B Peak concurrent players yesterday: 158
Warband Peak concurrent players yesterday: 9,291
WF&S Peak concurrent players yesterday: 492

And just look at the release dates and last update dates for the mods on the Nexus. Vanilla is dead. Warband happens to be on sale for just $5 along with the vanilla giveaway, so if you really want to get into the game, that's the best option.

Unless you want to wait for M&B 2: Bannerlord to come out later this year.

Those Warband player numbers are misleading. The vast majority of those are people playing the Napoleonic Wars [PvP only DLC], and the dozen or so mods for that are mostly maps.

^This^ implies Warband has more mods/modding than M&B when the actual mod numbers say different.
