Is there a realistic game in which you can assume the role of a surgeon, and generally a physician(doctor)?
It's not about a comic game, but one that is serious about the subject, as a kid I always wanted to be a doctor, but I also wanted to be a pilot, astronaut, cop and firefighter, just like every boy.

Although the truth has always been interested in two professions , a cosmonaut called astronaut in the west ;-) but in Poland most of publication use western term ;-) And become a doctor

I become Astrpnaut In a sense, I made this dream come true with the Kerbal Space Program :steamhappy:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/220200/Kerbal_Space_Program/?l=polish

But there is still no game, the simulator who would take seriously medicine or veterinary, although I am more interested in the first, although I am also a great pet lover, although man is also an animal, in a sense ;-)

So far I only met one such game/simulator, and it was a DOS game

This one :steamhappy:

I don't believe such a game exists. And no such game ever will exist because every "Simulator" game these days is;

Not with the realism people seek. Medicine is more than taking out an Appendix (and only surgeons operate even).

Being an astronaut would be more easier to make into a game (i.e.,a training sim), but this is the rub: developers are trained in "game theory" and what gamers want and accustomed to doesn't translate in actual sim games.

To play doctor would make the average gamer "bored" (and why such games are left to the niche developers, and too often they'll build it based on "game theory" instead of what actually surgeons and MDs do for patient care).

How many gamers are willing to spend a year studying anatomy to have the knowledge to begin their 2nd year of course work? Only in the 4th year do medical students go on their first "rounds", and they can't operate anyway as med students (okay, can stretch suturing as surgery).

Only when they're residents do they practice more "hands on", and again, only under supervision.

Takes 12 years of education to finally practice medicine without daddy watching them!

Those types of sims are r-a-r-e and a very specific niche. Not a money making enterprise.

I wonder if you can start studying medicine after 30, In Poland, where I live university studies are free, but unless for medical studies, there is a limit for free study, only for those who are younger than 27 in the calendar year they start the 1st year of study medical.
But I do not know if that's true, maybe it's gossip, and there's no age limit for free state-funded medical studies, but can the 30-year-old still be a doctor?

I would like to have at least some realistic medical simulator

In the US they sure can. One of my docs was 43 years-old going to medical school (was a Zoologist before being accepted).

Added benefit of being older is maturity and wisdom older doctors bring. A big plus in medicine (gray hair is almost like a badge of office for MDs, especially. Surgeons they like younger -- and they really do act like Gonzo Gates, including the bubble gum chewing! lol).

Are you a doctor?
I very much respect doctors and general medical staff.

I used to think to be a medical rescue technician(Paramedic as you call it in USA :steamhappy:)

I have Asperger's Syndrome, every year when I was a kid I went to for special summer camp(my parents doesnt need to pay becasue it was all from govemnty found), for kids like Asperger's Syndrome or ADHD, the staff was very nice, one of the (male) nurses looking like Colonel Sanders of KFC, all of whom were initially treated by a doctor, told me His family is almost all have something in the medical industry, nurses, pharmacists, doctors.

As I told him that I would be a medical rescuer, in our Polish Rescue Service, to drive ambulance and rescue people, he said that everything was before me, but I have to stop being shy, which was due to my autism, now I am not.

As I told him that I would like to be a medical rescue technician, this guy was joking what a nice name, "medical rescue technician" that in olden times in the Polish he was simply called Felczer :steamhappy: and his dad was Felczer in 50's communist Poland :D

I so wish there was a game like this it's a damn shame. I want to be a doctor and do doctor things, not be a doctor flavored character in some combat RPG or games where I manage doctors like a tycoon

Well, there's this, not really a game, but I suppose it's interesting enough to check out if you got a VR thingy.

Can't remember the name of it :(
