Do you have more than one steam account?
What do you use it for?

People think your crazy when you talk to yourself. Having multiple accounts lets each of the voices in your head have a say in a discussion.

No point in having a second account is there?

Well, I have two accounts. My main is my main but before I created this second account 8 years ago I had dozens of CD keys left over from my retail collection that you could add to steam.

Because my main had had most of these games already, I created gangerman to add these CD keys plus I had two gaming PCs back then, one for monitor and one for the televison, so I could play some games on tv such as racing games etc.

I have dozens of Steam accounts.

Because you can only get 4 skins a week in Don't Starve Together.

So whenever I reach the limit, I use Family Sharing to keep getting the rewards I deserve.

It's suggested that if you're going to submit to Greenlight that you should make a second account for that purpose, though not required. Which would allow you to make an account for whatever you wanted to call yourself while looking more professional than if you used your personal account. Then if your game got on Steam, you could then give your actual account developer status too.

Also making another account then buying the game again is the only option if someone gets VAC banned in a game and wants to be able to play the game on secure servers again.

Then there's people that idle for cards on multiple accounts.

But I only have one Steam account at the moment.

I am a pretty active card trader, so I have a second account just to keep the complete sets I want to craft safe from trade requests. That way I can wait until the sales to craft the badges.

People used to create multiple accounts to get event rewards. If you have been here long enough, you should remember the first few major sales. You complete tasks to get coals or other event items and trade them for games or in-game skins.

It was really fun and meaningful because the tasks is not simple. You need to play some games and maybe get certain achievement or leves to get these rewards.

However, people are greedy and started to create multiple accounts and abuse the system.

If I do recall then, Steam WILL ban your multiple accounts.

There is really no purpose to have multiple account since idling for cards will not work if you have not made purchase or reach certain level. Not worth it IMO and its a waste of time.

ittle correction if I may: Valve wont ban alt accounts, unless you use them for fraudulent reasons that is.

Well then probably the rules was changed. Back in the days when you can get multiple coals, people DO get banned.

That was because of the exploit, not because of multiple accounts in itself

context is very crucial.

lol i do the same, strange i found someone who do that .-., i have 6 alternative accounts with don't starve together xD, people think games like cs:go and other are the best one for drops but they are very wrong...

I have a few more accounts for all type of reasons
Some are for testing, as if a new user reports an issue i try some times to make a new user to see if i can get the same issue happen
Some times its for family sharing reasons as a game i want to share to family, but i want to play with them, so i make a second account for the second copy
And one so far is for a bot that i hope will help the community

I also have one or two older accounts that i left as of doing the mistake of missing that sharing account was not allowed, and when found out moved to these account, leaving the second one for the family member that had more games of his on it then my self :D:

I think that is abut it for now

Kids, which I've since taken over since they are old enough to have their own.

My main uses are as follows:
~Trade gem bags
~Family share COD MW3 so I can have a prestige and non-prestige account

The only reason I see someone creating an alt is to smurf and/or like screenshoots/workshop items

besides that you just wasting time and money
