Crackling sounds from PC?
Every second or two I hear a series of some weird crackling sounds coming from my pc. I know for sure it's not the fans but it does sound like something's ticking a fan if I were to compare the sound to anything. This pc was just built, is this normal?

Check your HDD assuming your running one
is it normal? no. you need to open up the case and find where the sound is coming from.
It could be a cable that is rubbing against a fan and as it spins it makes a noise.

I can't confirm that it's the source of the sound but I can't think of anything else it could be. If it is, how do I stop the sound? It's incredibly annoying. It doesn't appear to be causing any issues, I can run everything just fine, it's just an annoying sound.

If it is the HDD it would most likely get worse if it's new have it replaced

you figure out what is making the sound and have that component replaced.

Do I need to buy a new os?
No you should only have to reinstall it
You have CD/DVD/BR? Have disk in? Try open/shut, see if sound goes away.

Could be bearing going out on a fan. If so, it might get better for a couple weeks, come back, get worse, get better, get worse until it finally becomes so loud or annoying that you have no problem identifying it.

If it is HDD, it is likely to be logging disk errors in Windows event log. You can go Windows Key + R, then type eventvwr.msc, click OK, then expand Windows Logs and look at system log for disk errors.

You should be able to copy and paste the error from Event Viewer here. Or, enable the "details" tab and copy and paste that.

I highly suggest that if you are getting HDD errors, that you save or backup all important data immediately, if that applies.

Verywell, if you are sure it is the HDD, that is good you found the problem. Thanks for the reply and good luck to you always.
Check HDD with CrystalDiskInfo
and CHKDSK

As well as the HDD branded Diagnostics app for WinOS
