How would going to a 3600 improve fps?
3950X gets worse FPS... Ryzen 9 isn't a gaming CPU line, it's for content creation primarily...
Are you just here to start random BS for fun, then? Nice.
No? You literally said that he'd only get massive gains by going for the "Ryzen flagship" yet none of the Ryzen CPUs get as much FPS as the 9900K in the majority of cases. In terms of gaming performance, changing the motherboard and CPU to Ryzen would be a downgrade, and I pointed that out.
Either way, nice troll. Just keep it out of the forums like these that involve people trying to make educated decisions.
Stay out of the forums, please. You're the one being problematic.
No need to demand one another get out of the forums.
I'm going to side with Escorve on this one, don't take that the wrong way.
Because the OP said that he only games, so it doesn't make much sense for him to 'downgrade' to a 3950x, he would get worse performance.
The i9-9900k provides the better experience, in gaming.
Now, if he had other use cases I would agree.
But there's no current game (that I know of), that can fully utilise either CPU, so upgrading for a thread deficit isn't a question. It's more toward single thread performance, which the 9900k is the better choice.
And, you are correct, upgrading to Intels next generation would be meanigless too.
The difference between a 2700x and 3950x is on the order of the upgrade discussed between an i5 9600 and i9 9900k, the difference between an i9 9900k and an i9 10900k is not even worth discussing.
Though, if you read your first post back, you can see how it could be easily misconstrued as recommending he buys a 3950x.
