Steam should have a rewarding charity fundraiser!
Hello. This is a discussion talking about the new Origin Humble Bundle and why Steam should host one like what Origin is currently doing at the moment. Basically, origin is letting you pay ANY price above ONE DOLLAR to get 6 games or anything over $5 to get Battlefield 3 and Sims 3 Deluxe Edition and YOU can choose to allocate money to all of the 5 charities and some to the developer or all of the money towards the charities. I think this is a GREAT idea because we get rewarded with games, can sponsor charities, and Origin get's a good name for themselves! They've already received $7,000,000 worth of money towards charities and continuing sponsoring the charities and the event. Please reply and post YOUR ideas on this.

I think what would be better is if people actually donated to charity without the need of a few games telling them to.
I agree, I donate to charity often, but at least this way there's an incentive other than helping people in need and feeling good about that, but you receive cool games aswell. This is really brave of them because most of the money donated will be going to the charities, therefore they will be gaining less, maybe EA isn't so bad after all?

Ah they've soon regained their roots by putting out PvZ2 and charging to buy the plants IN the game.

Plants..roots...see what i did :D

But Valve did do a charity thingie a while back, it was in TF2 and you could buy exclusive hats where the money went to the Tsunami appeal.

Well valve can do it with there games but most of the games are not theirs... and i don't think there games are getting any high rate sell now.... so if they take Half Life 3 like that maybe can be good
Also if you look at greenlight it says "All proceeds from the submission fee are donated to Child’s Play, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of children in over 70 hospitals worldwide." talking abut the 100$ you need to pay to put on the green light

I see nothing wrong if people want to give to charitys. But I don't give anything to any charity, I have many reaosns not too but one reason is, you don't know were the money ends up. Some will end up to the cause you gave too and help people while the rest ends up in someones pocket or stolen. You just don't know were your money will end up.

Yeah, Steam and Origin wouldn't risk pulling something like that off.

Valve can probebly do one with their games. Steam can't have one as it does not make games, it only sells them.

EA has many games that they publish and have compleat controll over. Valve is a developers with a limited amount of games it can sell like that.

I wouldn't expect a Valve Humble Bundle to do as good as an Origin one dues to most people already having those games.
