Printable steam gifts
Hey, Valve, why you don't make it possible to print out gifts I bought? It's easy as 1-2-3, but you want me to send gifts only via specifying email or steam account. But it is a wrong way.
I bought a game as a gift for one kid, but:
  • First of all, it's psychological thing. People want to get physical gifts, not virtual. If you gave someone printed card with game code on it as a gift, it gives physical feeling of a gift. But if he receives just an email with that gift code, he doesn't get this feeling. It's like you have gifted him nothing.
  • And the second thing is that I simply might not to know neither email address of the person whom I wanna gift a game to, nor if he has steam account (nor if he even know what steam is).
Moreover, mobile steam app hasn't ability to send gifts, so you need to take your laptop with you special for this (or buy one if you haven't).
And how can I gift a game to people I communicate with in real life, not just over the internet (yeah, it's still actual to meet people in real life, you know?). Ask him for email? Oh, man, I just want to give them a card with code and this would be perfect!
So many problems would be solved if I only have the opportunity to print out gift game code I bought.
I'm sure I'm not alone with this problem, as there is an year-old topic on steam forums. But I think most of the people who post on forums are likely to receive gifts, and those who gives don't want to spend their's time posting here, but I spend my time describing a problem and I want to believe it's not a waste of time and it will be noticed by Valve. I hope.

You want to give a game as a printed greeting card (or just piece of paper, whatever) and not just to send an email, don't you?

Currently facing the same issue. It has been 2 years and AFAIK there's still no option to print it out.

why should it? it is stupid.

if you want to print it out so badly:
send the gift to a 2nd email address. copy the link to your fancy gift card workdocument, print it out and watch your prey getting frustrated mistyping the url a dozen times. same would happen with a code.

I have given my kids steam games for xmas for the last few years and I made a cube with each face being a game ive gifted/gifting them. I just google the game name and download an image for that game, it takes a bit of time but no more than an hour for a couple of cubes. Just grab a cube template off the net for free, put it into word or publisher and overlay pics onto it. paste it to cardboard, cut it out and glue/tape together.....works really well and looks awesome

I think this idea of buying a game for someone as a gift, then printing a voucher for it to be given as a gift is a great idea. Specifically as a gift swap idea when you don't know who will get the gift. Steam gets your money either way, but perhaps the back end is more complex than I'm assuming.

Create a voucher yourself. In Word, or Paint, or whatever you want. Also, Holy Necro Batman!
