Allow trade offers even if you're not friends with someone
Title says it all. I know that you can already do this if you create a trade in the trade subforum for some games, but I think it would be better if you could do trade offers with anyone at anytime, as more people use external sites for trading and not just the trading subforums. It would be much more conveniant than having to add someone while they're offline, waiting for them to go online and accept your request, then creating the trade offer. This would also be good since some people have too many friends on their list to accept any more invites.

Of course, if you don't want to receive these types of trade offers, there could always be an option to not allow trade offers from strangers (unless they clicked on the "accepting trade offers" link on a trade you made in the trading subforum).

Posting in the trade forum is the opt in for the trade. By allowing others to pester people by default would just lead to complaints.

If someone wants to trade, they will post about it. Until then, assume the answer is no.

If Valve were to make a new change like this, they would most likely make it so you have to go out of your way just for this to happen (go into the settings and allow random offers). If you don't want random offers, then just leave the option off.

There are other ways of showing that you want to trade something aside from just the trading subforum, such as other websites and the "Items up for trade" showcase. As much as I love the trading subforum, not that many people use it for certain games, and it can be really hard to find specific items that you want (not trying to be hostile to you, just trying to prove a point).

EDIT: If this is a bad idea, maybe allowing a trade offer feature for the "Items up for trade" showcase would be a better idea.

Check out the trade forums. There you can send and recieve trade offers without having each other on the list.

Also not 100% but i think that if you chat with someone in a group chat you can trade offer without adding them

You can already do this..
http://steamcommunity.com/my/tradeoffers/privacy

See the last option, place that on your profile and anyone signed in can click it and immediatly send trades to you. You can even place it on other websites and people who use steam on the sites and are currently signed in can send trades to you.

Never knew that was there. I guess this makes this thread pointless then. Thanks for the tip.
