I got a Game Ban so you don't have to - How and why Steam need better support when it comes to Steam game bans
Hi all,

I recently fell victim to developer blackmail and revenge tactics after their game got removed from Steam for employing scam marketplace items.

Here's the story as to what happened, how I got the ban overturned, and why Steam needs better support when it comes to these.

Overall, Steam Support should really allow a more personalised and direct appeal system when it comes to this kind of stuff. I admit I'm in a priviliged position when it comes to others, but it shouldn't take someone having a direct line to Steam to get a game ban overturned.

Everyone needs the ability to appeal, end of.

Well, definitely wouldn't hire to be a detective 😀
clearly when you see comments like that you know both parties are bad when they are trying to promote each other. like a bad csgo commendation we gotta question this at what level does someone need to really promote somebody else and why.

i would also not hire them as detectives , perception clearly misaligned

Pretty much same with me. It takes a lot of effort to build up reputations like that but there is no question he and I are two of the most respectable people here.
polar opposites, "One of you always tells the truth and one of you always lies, pick the right one and you can continue on, choose the wrong one and you will face Certain Death!"

Something like that but instead of certain death its you think Valve reviews game bans at all.
honestly i don't think steam reviews anything, the people working at steam don't care they just want paid, the only time they seem to care is when it puts profits in a backwards motion, and it often takes them days to weeks to fix it.

what i do see is that most bans are developer based however here on the steam hub notice things aren't the same, they are more straight forward where you have a discussion with the wrong person and you get banned for "Potato"

Actually, my experience with Support is they will work, and they do pay attention.
IT's just sometimes very hard to get them to fully pay attention.
Which is why you ask for their boss.
Or their higher up.

PRetty much every company has the rule where if someone asks to speak to the boss, so to speak, they have to take it seriously.

...or just keep asking and then they usually understand. The problem with Support is they have multiple people replying to the same ticket.

Yes, that's also a good point too.

I do not think they can. They cannot be an expert in all anti cheat solutions. If the dev is being dishonest, it would be trivial for him to make some fake log or point to some handwaved out of game behavior that he could call disruptive or you are some alt of some other cheater which you could never disprove. Valve would have to define serious rules for what you could and could not game ban for as well and a criteria to determine what counts for what. Regardless of if the dev had a bad day, made an honest mistake, or is malicious and wants to scar your profile out of ill will, I do not see how Valve could correct any of those with any sort of reliability.

Must be into fruits not vegetables.

Yeah that was the old thread. Lack of discussion so mods jump at the opportunity to close it even though imo it should be stickied until Valve sees and acknowledges it.

No, it wasn't lack of discussion. Your buddy had the bright idea of bumping it and it was locked afterwards.

So you're lying about why your precious thread got locked, so what else are you lying about? A "false" ban, perhaps?

So I just reviewed it and yes looks like I was wrong.

1. Valve did see it but closed it because it was inactive for a month and Revadike did bump it to basically say it isn't fixed yet.

And by the way we became friends after this whole debacle so nothing strange about people coming together when faced with injustice. Prior to the game ban I never knew Revadike and still don't know him other than an online friend.

2. So I'm not lying about anything, I just didn't realize exactly what went down. Even with a thread bumped 1 month later, there's no justification to look at it as a necro bump and close it. Valve jumping at the opportunity to close it so they don't have to deal with it, and that is the truth of it. Once they help us they have to help everyone so it's easier for them to do nothing but try to hide it. But I'm glad I know that because I will stop at nothing

I want to encourage everyone to keep opening steam support nonstop and make Valve keep getting feedback from steam support workers, keep them employed and maybe drives that cost up with multiple posts. They used to reply so fast now they reply slower and finally I got a human being that didn't copy paste. They said they forwarded the report directly to Valve. Now we need more to do that, only way to get things done, when Valve feels it.
