But seriously, if removing bots was simple, it probably already would have happened.
lol, i wanted to post this anyway.. i just find it so annoying to have to deal with them, there's always a way to do something, don't think for a moment anything's impossible.
thats the issue, people coding off of steam's api to allow them to make bots that terrorise people's accounts, send links that take you to either viruses or another program that infects your computer and forwards the link to all your friends.
i guess you're right, but they'll get it done.. i know they will, if they don't who will, nobody other than them have access to or know what to fix to make everything as good as it was 5 years ago.
The bots them self are made by users, not by bots, that then put the script and release the bots
Over all Valve can maybe make things to block that, but that will mean lots of pain to all users that are legit (like add captcha, to all things on Steam)
And Valve cant just go and delete an account, as you may just delete a legit account, also some of the bots are accounts of legit users that were stolen, or even sold..
There are how ever 2 ways that may really stop these:
1. stop all the trading, and close the market down, that will stop it, as no one will be able to steal anything worth
2. users learn the basic of internet risk, when that happen no one will fall, and it will stop as no worth will be to have by the bots, as users will not fall for them
i did just have an idea for them to track their ip and block their ip but they could just be using a proxy anyway. srsly.. one of the number 1 things you're taught at school is internet safety, so why is it that many people are either stupid believing in a link to trade or a link ot add a user who does not exist! those are viruses/malware.
i had a list of 10 invites or so, i just didn't wanna add anyone.
not just this but the other day my friend had one of these links posted by his friend, he clicked on it and was warned by his friend.. they somehow know how to spam message everyone on your steam friends list. i have no idea what the thing did but the most part i know is that all his steam friends had that exact same link sent by him.
Any how the common Phishing now is with malware, then all the stealing and spreading happens on the PC of the victim him self, and he pass it then over
(its like a zombie virus, only you have to allow the zombies to bite you, to be infected)
(thanks guys, that give me an idea
no problem XD
