There are badges i won't upgrade because i don't want ot lose the current image/words on the one i have. So, from people like me, Valve loses money because i buy less trading cards.
i would keep upgrading some badges if i could keep the old look/design as well, as you say and display the one i want.
It has been brought up many times. And I think I'm repeating myself at least one time
I don't think the tweak will be too much work, because my steam app already recorded what badges are underneath the level 5 ones that I have.
They just have to add some exceptions, in casu the event and steam specific ones (like badge for the collected games, years member, ...).
This sounds like a good, easy to implement idea.
Really do not see much reason to block that, if on the badge page outer users will yet be able to see the latest badge
