Steam Overlay Global Ping Display

Considering the general pc gamers frustration with developers/publishers not offering the ability to view their connection fidelity, an option could be added for Steam users to see their server ping in game via the Steam overlay across any games available on the platform. Considering Steam and it's overlay are already rooted into the games we play, this could easily be included just as the fps counter was recently.

It may be a developer/publishers choice to disable our ability to view ping to disguise their P2P and "Hybrid" server setup situations as truly functional dedicated systems for personal profit and/or gain yet, we as the consumer should have data readily available to either prove or disclaim this without question.

This would immediately enable the community to make educated and informed decisions as to whether or not to continue support of a product via future dlc purchases, especially so in regards to competitive multiplayer and co-op titles.

The growing trend of developers using ping "bars" has become obnoxious. They're completely useless and only establish a visual representation of data that can easily be displayed in numerical form. One, two, three, four or five bars bars are meaningless if you have no factual number to base it on.

By inlcuding this feature, it would eliminate the guessing game when joining lobbies and eliminate some of the headaches that go along with it.
