Means the same thing it's just worded differently. Nothing stopping you telling peopl eyou'd plat'd a game you got 100% on Steam. When I've played a game on PC that my brother has on PS I will say if I have or have not Plat'd it. Doesn't matter that on Steam its 100%.
The devs could just add an achievement to getting all the others and calling it Platinum.
Thing with this is if it got changed you'd get Xbox players wanting a gamer score. Less hassle just leaving as is
That is actually what I meant. Steam could use just a different name.
Steam doesn't create the achievements, developers do. They can already do this and some games do have an achievement that you get when you've completed all other achievements.
They're really pointless as a game that has 100% of achievements completed is marked as such already, no need to add useless junk achievements to the mix.
Observably false, as there are still people collecting them legitimately and communities built around Steam achievements.
But Steam should definitely do something about SAM. It's use is already against the terms of use and from what I read from coders, it would be very easy to detect.
The problem is that Steam lately only cares about features it can monetize, And Steam can't monetize achievements beyond achievement showcases, if SAM allowed you to unlock Steam Badges, Steam would be on that stuff tomorrow.
there are your "platinum games".
I know we have a completion showcase and I know it's up to the devs. Project Cars 2 on my list already got a "earned all other achievements" achievement.
Except it's required on PlayStation, I still don't understand why devs implement it there but don't bother to do it on Steam? Is it that hard to get that one final achievement implemented? I don't think so.
Anyway, I know this probably will never be a thing, since another one said in the thread - Steam just focuses on the Store and other things they can get more money out, they don't care about achievements, badges and the players profile customization in general. Hell, we have a most talked suggestion in the suggestion forum with ~1.1k comments about the option to alter badges, active for years, yet there is not a single response from Steam.
Like I said, they will probably never do it hence that "just saying" in the end of the OP post. ;)
They don’t mandate any number of achievements, fWiW.
