Steam Deck Mini

Lower spec, lower price, better insulation from environment, better portability.

Flatten the joysticks, rely on heat sinks over fans, add an additional verified symbol for Steam Mini specs; "Steam Deck Mini Verified" [insert pink checkmark].

If you can't make it fit in my pocket don't bother designing it.

So basically you don't want it to be able to run any games on steam because thats what it would take to make it that small, with little to no heat.

Basically you want a phone without all the phone bits, cameras, a decent screen, but you also won't have the thumb controllers. So just get a decent phone and use Parsec. Thats about the only way you will be able to do that...

Oh but you want it cheaper... well you need to pick... cheaper but bigger, super expensive but smaller.

Personally I kind of like the idea of a smaller steamdeck that could fit in your pocket ... the only way I'd see it happen is if they took inspiration from that gaming phone , the xperia play.

But both smaller AND cheaper is not something I would expect to happen even if they tone down the specs.

I'm not sure about a Steam Deck mini, but I believe the Deck surely needs a revision and a version with no trackpads and better button layout.

I could be mistaken but I believe the Deck will prove to be another one of Valve's hardware failures. It sold well enough at the start because of enthusiasts but interest will soon die out.

The Switch doesn't sell simply because it's portable, that's only part of it. The Switch sells because Nintendo supports it with a constant barrage of high quality games.

As long as it runs the basics I'm good. Comes with the territory of being small.

It'd have ENOUGH games to be worth it, given how many simple games are available.

From your perspective maybe but most people want to be able to play all the games they own not a just a few. This would be like Valve shooting themselves in the foot. Spending lots of money to develop something that would only get sound to small portion of people.
